BUCHAREST, ROMANIA: Tristan Tate, a former kickboxer who has transitioned into an influencer, recently expressed his thoughts on the verdict of Benjamin Mendy's trial. Mendy, a former defender for Manchester City, was found not guilty of charges related to rape and attempted rape by a jury at Chester Crown Court. Tate's comments on this matter have ignited a significant response from social media users.

The allegations against Mendy originated from an incident that reportedly occurred at his residence in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, in October 2020. Mendy was accused of committing a violent assault against a 24-year-old woman. Additionally, another woman came forward, accusing the French footballer of attempting to rape her and revealing that she had experienced his advances two years prior. After Mendy's recent acquittal on charges related to sexual assault, Tristan Tate vehemently criticized the legal system, expressing his strong disapproval of the verdict.
Tate expressed the belief that the process itself serves as a form of punishment, as Mendy will likely face lifelong labeling as a rapist. In his opinion, this outcome does not align with the principles of justice. Tate wrote, "The process is the punishment. People will call him a rapist for the rest of his life. This isn’t justice."
Mendy's professional journey experienced a remarkable ascent when he secured a record-breaking £52 million ($55M) transfer deal in 2017, making him the most expensive defender in Premier League history. This significant move brought him to Manchester City, where he achieved three titles and played a crucial role in France's triumph in the 2018 World Cup.
Despite his on-field accomplishments, Mendy faced personal challenges that ultimately led to the non-renewal of his contract with Manchester City. Consequently, he was released from the club at the end of June. Following his court appearance, Mendy's solicitor, Jenny Wiltshire, conveyed a statement on his behalf, expressing gratitude towards the jury for focusing on the trial evidence rather than the rumors and speculation that surrounded the case from the beginning. The statement also highlighted that this was the second time Mendy had faced trial and been found not guilty by a jury, and he expressed his delight in the jurors arriving at the correct verdict.
