LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angus T Jones of 'Two And A Half Men' fame looked shockingly different at a rare appearance in Los Angeles over the weekend. The former child star was snapped on Sunday, May 21, sporting a bushy brown beard and appeared to have put on some pounds.

Jones notably quit acting almost a decade ago after undergoing a religious awakening and denouncing the hit show as "filth." Now 29, the actor has led a reclusive life in Los Angeles over the past few years, resurfacing into the public eye on rare occasions.

Here’s how Matthew Perry almost missed out on Chandler Bing's role in 'Friends'

Jones sported a casual ensemble as he stepped out this week, wearing a loose-fitted grey t-shirt and a turned-back red baseball cap. He was dressed similarly during another sighting last month, when he donned a black t-shirt over grey shorts and a matching beanie.

The Austin, Texas-born thespian was just nine years old when he shot to fame with the popular sitcom 'Two And A Half Men' alongside Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen. Jones went on to spend about a decade on the show and witnessed Charlie undergo a drug-fueled public outburst that eventually led to the latter being fired in 2011 and replaced by Ashton Kutcher.

'I'm not an adult'

Jones himself was struggling at the time with the demands of his role, which increasingly included adult storylines involving drugs and sex. In 2012, he confessed that he had begun to find the gig "very awkward," adding, "I am with these people on set that I have been with since I was 8 years old." While speaking onstage at PaleyFest, he expressed his reservations about "doing the adult thing when I am still not an adult. I mean, I am 18, but I am not an adult."

Why did Angus T Jones leave 'Two And A Half Men'?

Jones was baptized later that year into a Christian ministry called the Forerunner Chronicles and announced that he wanted no part in the smash hit sitcom. In fact, he told 'Two And A Half Men' viewers to "stop watching it and filling your head with filth," and that he was distancing himself from the project to avoid "contributing to the enemy’s plan." The embattled actor subsequently attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and initially majored in environmental studies before switching to Jewish studies.

That said, by 2015, he changed his mind and agreed to be on the series finale of 'Two And A Half Men'. However, his feelings about religion appeared to have morphed even further by the following year. "Over the last three years I’ve been involved with various faith-based organizations. Right now, I’m stepping away from the organizational business-model programs," he told People in 2016. "I’m interested in seeing where I go without an organization putting a stamp of approval on if I’m good or bad or whatever." The actor eventually confessed that being a part of the series finale "kind of showed me how much I did like it" and admitted that the "door is definitely still open" for him to resume acting. Later that year, Jones played a small role in Louis CK's critically acclaimed miniseries 'Horace And Pete'. However, he has no IMDb credits to his name since, according to the Daily Mail.
