The U.S. Open is set to tee off on Thursday morning and since it's a major, we're not going to stick to only outright bets, are we?
Let's talk prop bets. I have three that I like for this week's major at Los Angeles Country Club.
Let's dive into them.
U.S. Open prop bets
- Carson Young Top Debutant +1600
- Justin Thomas to miss the cut +170
- Shane Lowry -120 vs. Corey Conners
Carson Young Top Debutant +1600
The "top debutant" bet is a wager on which golfer that is making their U.S. Open debut to finish with the lowest score. I love Carson Young in this spot at 16/1.
The golfers above him on the odds list have all been in rough form lately. Cam Davis has missed two straight cuts, Taylor Moore has gone T72 and missed cut in his last two tournaments, Adam Svensson has missed two straight cuts, Gordon Sargent is an amateur, and Vincent Norman missed the cut at the Canadian Open.
Meanwhile, Young has gone T14, T21, and T43 in his last three starts and he has gained stroked with his approach play in five straight tournaments.
His top debutant price at +1600 is in must-bet territory.
Justin Thomas to miss the cut +170
Justin Thomas has been terrible lately. He missed the cut at The Masters, finished T65 at the PGA Championship, and then missed the cut at The Memorial Tournament. At the Memorial, he lost 1.15 strokes per round putting and both his driving accuracy and driving distance was below the field average.
If there's a top golfer to fade this week, it's JT.
Shane Lowry -120 vs. Corey Conners
Shane Lowry stumbled on Sunday at the Canadian Open, but so did Corey Conners. Lowry has had success at the U.S. Open in the past and has proven that he can succeed at tougher courses, including during his 2019 win at The Open.
Meanwhile, Conners has missed the cut at all three US Open's that he's competed at.
I love this bet at -120.
