Valorant Agent Tier List September 2022

Our Valorant Agent tier list for September 2022 is here to break down which of the characters are the best to use now that the new meta has settled down a bit once again in Episode 5 Act 2.

At the start of the new act, there were notably no Agent balancing changes made, with the game's last major shakeup being the Chambers nerfs that arrived in Patch 5.03. Of course, that doesn't mean that players aren't still continuing to figure out what the best Agents in the current meta are. Here is how the Agents stack up in Valorant Episode 5 Act 2 in September 2022.

Valorant September 2022 Agent Rankings

S Tier

  • Chamber
  • Jett

Kicking off the list are the two Agents that remain no-brainer and consistently useful picks in almost all formats. Despite the hits that each has taken over the various recent patches, they are still the base ingredients for dropping high-frag games. Their utility and devastating ultimate abilities define rounds and how teams have to play.

A Tier

  • Reyna
  • Viper
  • Raze
  • Omen
  • Sova
  • Fade
  • KAY/O
  • Skye
  • Phoenix
  • Sage
  • Breach
  • Brimstone

In the A Tier are 12 Agents that all have clear uses for certain maps. With Reyna players continuing to wreak havoc off of sheer gunplay, it's hard to keep her out of A Tier. Post nerf, the high-skill-ceiling Russian archer Sova has certainly dropped in popularity a bit, but still remains an absolute problem in the right hands. Fade continues to be a great pick in both pubs and pro play, being an irritant for aggressive defenders playing off-angles. Viper and Omen certainly feel as though they are the only smoke Agents you need, outside of perhaps Brimstone for Fracture and Bind, and Astra solely for Split. In general, it's a great time for flex/Initiator players as KAY/O, Skye, Breach and Raze have all become necessities for certain maps (e.g. KAY/O on Breeze and Ascent, Skye on Bind and Haven, Breach on Fracture, and Raze on Bind and Split). Lastly, Sage remains to be nearly a must-pick for Icebox. Slowly but surely, it appears Phoenix has successfully become relevant again in public matches thanks to his buffed flashes and ultimate. Pro play is a much different story for the British duelist, however.

B Tier

  • Astra
  • Neon
  • Yoru

The four Agents in the B Tier are still viable, but have clear alternatives that most teams could prioritize. Astra requires a perhaps uncomfortable amount of coordination for most teams. The same can be said for Neon, who also has a pretty limited map pool. Meanwhile, Yoru can actually be quite underrated for ranked at this point and is far from a troll pick.

C Tier

  • Killjoy
  • Cypher

Lastly, in the C Tier are the two Agents that feel pretty weak in both competitive and pro Valorant settings. A sign of the seemingly struggling state of the Sentinels at the moment, Killjoy and Cypher are pretty niche picks as it takes some sturdy setups to still get good value from picking them.
