AUSTIN, TEXAS: The recent clip of Joe Rogan and Elon Musk discussing the alleged discovery of a World War II-era German bunker in the Bermuda Triangle went viral, igniting a debate among netizens.
Notably, the UFC color commentator is known for having candid conversations about conspiracy theories, especially on his 'The Joe Rogan Experience' podcast.
Clip shows Joe Rogan and Elon Musk discussing the Bermuda Triangle German bunker theory
In the clip, Joe Rogan enthusiastically shares the news with Elon Musk about a World War II-era German bunker being found in the Bermuda Triangle and the latter is seen responding to it.
Rogan said, "A few hours ago in the Bermuda Triangle an advanced German bunker from World War II has been discovered housing documents about a moon station in 1939 and confirmed contacts with extraterrestrials."
In an audible response, Musk stated, "Yeah, I’ve heard of it."
Rogan continued, "These revelations raise questions about secret space projects before the official space age and nobody knows how the Germans built in this depth and why they needed a complete working bunker in the Bermuda Triangle."
"But the scariest thing is that one of them took photos and posted it and you can see this is way too expensive just for a prank or something," expressed the UFC commentator.
Rogan further noted, "The factual scenario coupled with sightings of aliens, UFOs, and an old-looking pirate ship heightens research interest in the Bermuda Triangle. Scientists continue their efforts to unravel the mysteries of the location."
As the video went viral, netizens claimed it to be fake, with one writing, "Badly edited." Another said, "This is fake af."
"AI needs more work. Nice try," noted a person, while someone else expressed, "I hate this fake ai bs."
Joe Rogan and Elon Musk's video on the Bermuda Triangle is an AI-generated hoax
A closer examination of the viral clip reveals discrepancies between the words heard in the clip and the lip movements of Joe Rogan and Elon Musk, indicating that the footage is AI-generated.
Upon scrutiny, it became evident that the video was manipulated, likely splicing together words spoken by the duo in separate instances or employing an AI voice generator to create a fabricated narrative about the Bermuda Triangle.
While the viral video sparked initial interest, its lack of synchronization between audio and visual elements undermines its credibility.
Having said that, Rogan and Musk did collaborate for the fourth time on the 'JRE' podcast in early November, primarily delving into discussions about X (formerly Twitter).
The podcast focused on the advent of AI, with Musk expressing genuine concerns about its potential threat to humanity. The Tesla CEO emphasized the need for regulatory measures to monitor the progress of AI development, providing genuine insights amid the AI-generated hoax circulating online.
Musk said, "You have to say, ‘How could AI go wrong?’, well, if AI gets programmed by the extinctionists its utility function will be the extinction of humanity."
