Was Quavo arrested for threatening to 'kill' party boat captain? Migos rapper ziptied by cops after alleged heist on Miami yacht

MIAMI, FLORIDA: Rapper Quavo was seen with his wrists zip-tied behind his back following an alleged robbery attempt on a yacht in Miami. According to the Miami Beach Police Department, the Migos member, 32, was on board the yacht on Sunday, July 23, 2023, when two other passengers started acting aggressively and threatening the captain. The owner of the yacht informed Miami Beach police that he rented the boat early on to a group of 13 to 17 individuals.

Quavo and Offset reunited following the shooting death of their partner Takeoff, last month. For the first time in a year, Offset, a three-time Grammy nominee, and Quavo, a four-time Grammy nominee, gave a performance to remember their late Migos bandmate at the BET Awards.

Was Quavo arrested for threatening to 'kill' party boat captain?

The Miami Beach Police Department claims that when the captain and his crew warned the passengers that their boat rental was about to end, two men on board—neither Quavo—allegedly turned "very aggressive" against them. When advised that their rental period was ending, the two men, Anteneh Workeneh and Cornell Whitfield, allegedly became upset and requested a refund.

One of the men allegedly threatened to kill the captain and "throw him off the boat," claimed the captain. The pair reportedly snatched the captain's phone and wallet from his pocket. A crew member with a cell phone informed the boat's owner after sending a covert text message for rescue. According to a police report obtained by Page Six, he then called the police, who apprehended "several males" as the boat arrived at The Wharf's dock.

Although Quavo was speaking to police while having his hands tied behind his back at one point, he was not detained. The rapper, whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall, was captured on camera leaving the scene and hiding his face after being released by the police. Although it's not known what Quavo was involved in, Miami police have confirmed that he was on the yacht when the incident took place.

'Quavo was not mentioned in the police report narrative'

A spokesperson for Quavo claimed in a statement to Page Six, "To be clear, Quavo was not mentioned in the police report narrative. Not only was Quavo not arrested, he is not even listed as a witness to any alleged dispute." According to a source who spoke to Page Six, the 'Walk It Talk It' rapper was briefly seen after the alleged altercation with his hands zip-tied behind his back before Miami Beach police let him go.

A client at The Wharf, a waterfront venue for outdoor events, told WPLG that he and some companions were enjoying cocktails when they noticed police surrounding the yacht. He told the publication, "All of a sudden, there was a police boat that came to the front. People were raising their hands, so we were wondering what's going on. It was kind of like an ambush from both sides, and that’s - it was a crazy scene, not going to lie."

Another insider added, "[Police] let [Quavo] go later and he and his entourage left in these big black SUVs with blacked out windows," noting that Quavo appeared to be accompanied by a bodyguard and a "bunch of women." The police report states that due to contradicting accounts at the time, no arrests were made. All involved subjects were released and left without a hitch.
