LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green announced their engagement one year after welcoming their son Zane. Speaking on the September 22 episode of iHeartRadio's 'Oldish' podcast, Sharna shared, "We've been engaged for two months. Brian proposed to me."
A professional partner and troupe member on the ABC series 'Dancing with the Stars', the 38-year-old ballroom dancer was happily surprised when her partner got down on one knee to pop the question on his 50th birthday on July 15.
"Sharna threw me this surprise party," reminisced the 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star, "and I was like, 'That's a perfect place to do it. She'd never see it coming.'"
How did Brian Green propose to Sharna Burgess?
Brian got his entire family involved to help him with the proposal, including his kids Noah Shannon, 10, Bodhi Ransom, 9, and Journey River, 7, with ex-wife Megan Fox. (He is also the father of Kassius, 21, from his previous relationship with Vanessa Marcil.)
"We head into our bedroom and I start to get these feelings of like, 'Oh my god! He's like, ‘Hey, kids come here.' And the kids come in with him and Noah is holding Zane and Journey is holding this little red Cartier box," regaled Sharna.
The birthday boy then asked on behalf of himself and the kids, "Would you spend the rest of your life with us?"
"Of course I said yes and I put that ring on my finger," Sharna continued. "I hugged all of them and it was the most perfect, beautiful moment because it was us. It was our unit, our tribe, and I love that that's how he wanted to do it."
Brian explained that turning 50 felt like the beginning of the second half of his life, so it was the perfect time to take the next steps with Sharna.
"To me, it seemed like the next, easy progression," he said. "If you want to keep things moving forward and moving ahead, that's just part of the step. I have this grand vision... for Sharna to be able to share a last name with all of us. That's the end goal of all of it, so this is just part of the process."
Sharna echoed his feelings, saying, "My bonus babies and Zane, they are my babies. I wouldn't have it any other way. My last name will be Green...and it makes me so happy."
When did Sharna Burgess start dating Brian Green?
Brian had confirmed dating Sharna in 2021, a year after they were photographed kissing during a vacation in Hawaii. He had described her as "super sweet and caring, passionate, and fun to be around."
The couple partnered up on season 30 of 'Dancing with the Stars' in 2021, before announcing Sharna's pregnancy in February 2022. Zane was born four months later.
