What Would ChatGPT Name Call of Duty 2023?

ChatGPT and other AI chatbots have become super popular this year with fans seeing what limits the AI can be pushed to in conversation.

Ranging from simple conversation to complex discussion, we wondered how up to date ChatGPT with the Call of Duty universe. A new Call of Duty is set to arrive in 2023 and we know some information so far. We know it will be a continuation of the MW2 story and it will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, as reported by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier. The game's name is still a mystery, but that doesn't prevent ChatGPT from guessing what the next entry will be called.

We asked ChatGPT: "What would the next Call of Duty title be called, if you had to name it?"

What Would ChatGPT Name Call of Duty 2023?

ChatGPT listed these seven possible names:

  • Call of Duty: Vanguard 2
  • Call of Duty: Cold War 2
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
  • Call of Duty: World War III
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts 2
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Reboot
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare 2

The AI chatbot also prefaced the answer by saying, "As an AI language model, I can generate some potential names for the next Call of Duty title based on the previous titles and general themes of the franchise. However, it's important to note that these are just speculative and not based on any official information." Later ending its prompt with, "Again, I want to emphasize that these are just speculative names, and the actual title of the next Call of Duty game may be completely different."

Of those listed, Vanguard 2, Cold War 2, Modern Warfare 4, World War III and Black Ops Reboot seem like a reach. Vanguard 2 is unlikely considering the narrative hoops Sledgehammer would have to jump through to connect its WWII title to the MW universe, Cold War 2 and Black Ops Reboot don't make sense since those are Treyarch properties. Not to mention, MW4 just completely disregards an MW3 remake/reboot.

Ghosts 2 and Infinite Warfare 2 are interesting titles, but it's unlikely Activision wants to continue the new MW universe with a Ghosts sequel nor revert back to jetpacks despite parts of the community missing that era.

Even thinking proactively, does MW3 really make sense right away as a follow-up to 2022's release? We know the story will be continued by the game's after-credits scene, but it's safe to say guessing a title remains speculative at best until the summer arrives.
