AUSTIN, TEXAS: Even though Mike Tyson and Joe Rogan may not have a lengthy history together, they have developed a respectful friendship in recent years. His segments with Tyson are among the most watched ones of all the illustrious guests Rogan has had on his renowned 'Joe Rogan Experience' throughout the years.
Well, it goes without saying that you shouldn't mess with Tyson given his abilities. During a 2022 'JRE' podcast, Rogan discussed the infamous fan altercation that Tyson had.
‘He’s gonna just f***ing hit you like a normal person would’
In 2022, Rogan and Dan Soder recorded a podcast episode together. Soder and Rogan covered the Tyson-Fan altercation that occurred mid-flight and resulted in the fan receiving a serious beating. Rogan compared the fan's act to playing with a beehive and called it pretty "dumb."
“It’s so dumb! It’s not even kicking a beehive. It’s like smashing – it’s headbutting a beehive. If you find yourself where Mike Tyson’s reaching over the back of an airline seat and punching you in the face, I think you probably earned it. They think just because he’s Mike Tyson, he’s famous, he can’t just punch you. You’re annoying him! He’s gonna just f*****g hit you like a normal person would,” Rogan said.
The fight was caught on camera by another passenger, who then uploaded the clip online, making the incident widely publicized. Millions of people throughout the world were interested in it, and it quickly gained popularity as a topic of discussion. Tyson was criticized for his actions. While some fans supported Tyson, including Rogan, others did not. After a while, Tyson spoke candidly about the infamous incident.
‘This guy keeps antagonizing me’
In 2022, Tyson had a sit-down interview with the notorious Piers Morgan. He discussed the fan confrontation in the aircraft and discussed his mental condition at the time throughout the interview.
In an open admission, Tyson acknowledged that he had been high and a little restless, which had negatively impacted his mental state and caused him to lose his composure.
Tyson said, “By the time I’m on the plane I’m high, hungry, and tired. This guy keeps antagonizing me. And then I came to my senses and kicked his fu****g a**! This guy keeps antagonizing me. That guy was just an irritant really. He hit me with a water bottle.” Tyson said that, out of every ten contacts with fans, he could run into one very obnoxious supporter.
