Overwatch 2 is expected to release to the public on Oct. 4, 2022, and many are wondering about the status of cross-progression within the new game.
Blizzard Entertainment has been preparing for the release of Overwatch 2 for a long time now, and they have thought of every possible need for the new game. One big announcement that was released in August revolved around merging your account into the sequel with cross-progression.
When Will Overwatch 2 Receive Cross Progression?
Cross progression will be a part of Overwatch 2 when it launches on Oct. 4. In fact, players have been preparing for it already. Since Aug. 16, players have been able to start the process of linking their console account with the new game.
The process involves logging into your account, then once logged in, players will be prompted to identify, select, and confirm the account they would like to merge. Once approved, players will be ready to go when Overwatch 2 releases.
In order to play Overwatch 2, players will need a battle.net account, so make sure your account is linked to your console so that you can share progress across the linked accounts on different devices.
Players can merge accounts from different consoles like Xbox, Nintendo, PlayStation and PC, however only one merge is allowed per platform, so you cannot have two Nintendo Switches linked to your Overwatch 2 account.
Merging your account is the only way players will be able to have their data transfer over to Overwatch 2 on console, so getting this done before the game launches is crucial to bring all your items into the sequel game.
With just about a week to go till the launch of Overwatch 2, the team over at Blizzard Entertainment released a new trailer for the game. Check it out below.
