LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Whoopi Goldberg may not be married right now, but that doesn't mean she doesn't understand what marriage entails. 'The View' host and Academy Award winner has tied the knot thrice, but each marriage ended in divorce. Goldberg is grateful to be the mother of Alex Martin, the only child she has with her ex-husband Alvin Martin.
As MEAWW reported earlier, Goldberg isn't happy that the show has recently chosen an upbeat story for the 'Hot Topics' segment. Usually, gossip and stories about extramarital affairs are more popular with the audience. Given her list of affairs and relationships, Goldberg seemed displeased with the topic choice for the segment, and she made sure that the co-hosts, producers, and audience are all aware of that.
Goldberg, 67, became the first African-American woman to receive the EGOT after acquiring the Emmy, Grammy, Academy, and Tony awards. She is also a successful businesswoman, philanthropist, and activist. The TV personality has been prominent in the public eye for decades but rarely discusses her personal life and her three unsuccessful marriages. According to US Weekly, she was married to Lyle Trachtenberg from 1994 to 1995, David Claessan from 1986 to 1988, and Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979. In addition to her marriages, Goldberg has dated Hollywood stars like Ted Danson and Timothy Dalton in the past.
Ted Danson
From 1992 through 1994, Goldberg and Danson engaged in a highly public affair while he was still married to Cassandra Coates. After they were cast alongside one another in the 1992 film 'Made in America', their friendship took an unexpected turn. The two had been pals for a while before that point after first meeting on 'The Arsenio Hall Show' in 1988.
Despite their best efforts to keep it a secret, Goldberg and Danson started a contentious relationship that ultimately led to the dissolution of his 16-year marriage to Cassandra, who left with their two children and $30 million.
