Who has Ariana Grande dated before? Inside singer's intriguing relationship history

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande's name has been attached to prominent celebs when it comes to relationships. It has always been a tumultuous journey for the 'Save Your Tears' singer to find the perfect match for her and although she did find one in Dalton Gomez, their marriage was short-lived as they got separated in 2023.

The 30-year-old singer has dated a myriad of men before tying the knot with Dalton in 2021. But what makes her dating history even more interesting is the fact that she seemingly does not have a specific type when it comes to finding a love partner for her. From comedian Pete Davidson to rapper Mac Miller, Grande always thought that she may have found 'the one' in her life but in the end, it has only led to her disappointment.

Meaww has collected a list of all of Grande's previous love affairs over the years and decided to provide an insight into it.

Ariana Grande's first boyfriend- Graham Phillips

Grande started her first relationship with 'Riverdale' actor Graham Phillips. The singer was only 15 at that time and the pair met on the set of '13: The Musical' in 2008 and instantly fell for each other. The duo dated for three years, from 2008 to 2011, and even wrote a song together called 'Stick Around'. Despite breaking up, both Grande and Phillips later reunited in July 2016 for a dinner with friends from '13:The Musical'.

Jai Brooks

Almost a year after her split from Phillips, Grande found her second love in MTV star Jai Brooks. The duo started dating in August 2012 after coming to know each other through Twitter before they broke up in October 2013. Brooks later took to Twitter where he accused the singer of cheating on him with Nathan Sykes.

“Yes I was cheated on. Yes it does suck," he lashed out at Grande at that time, US Magazine reports. "Yes I was left for another man.” But she denied the allegations and accused him of threatening her with retaliation if she chose to not be with him. “Woke up this morning in complete and utter shock …I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. You said to me if I didn't come back to you, you'd make me look bad to the entire world,” she responded. “I’m no longer afraid of you or your lies anymore.”

Surprisingly, the pair got back together briefly in May 2014 only to break up again in August of that year.

Nathan Skyes

The two-time Grammy Award winner began dating Nathan Skyes in August 2013 after they released “Almost Is Never Enough” from the soundtrack of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. However, as many of her fans may have anticipated, the pair's love affair did not last long as they split in December of that year. According to US Weekly, a source told the outlet that they broke up because the two “hardly ever saw each other” while another noted, “they just weren’t into it anymore."

Three years later, they reunited once again, to perform on a new version of his song “Over and Over Again.”

Big Sean

After months of rumors, the “Side by Side” singer confirmed she was in a relationship with Big Sean. The pair started dating on October 2014, and Grande, at that time, called him, "one of the most amazing men in the whole word.” “It's gotten serious very fast," a source told US Magazine then. "They are much happier than in their previous relationships."

But after nearly nine months of dating, she and Big Sean ended their relationship. “They both deeply care for each other and remain close friends,” reads a joint statement given to Page Six. “We kindly ask that the media respect their wish for privacy regarding this personal matter at this time.”

Ricky Alvarez

Alvarez and Grande were first seen together in the summer of 2015 following her split from Big Sean. They were also seen when the singer made headlines in July of that year after she was caught on surveillance footage licking a donut in a store and saying she “hates Americans” and “hates America.” The pair later split after a couple of months but they still remain on good terms to this day. Following the release of 'Thank U, Next', Alvarez posted a clip of himself listening to the song when Grande jokingly replied, "IM SORRY U GOT THE WORST LINE ... IT WAS MEANT V LOVINGLY," referencing her lyrics, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh.”

Mac Miller

One of Grande's most meaningful relationships, the singer met Miller after they collaborated on 'The Way'. The duo dated from 2016 to 2018 before getting separated in May of that year. Grande opened up about their split a few days later on Instagram alongside a photo of the former couple cuddling, which she captioned, “I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!”

Miller shared his perspective in July, telling, "I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years. We worked through good times, bad times, stress and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on,” to Beats 1 host Zane Lowe. “And it’s that simple.”

Grande wrote a touching tribute to him on Instagram after the “Dang!” rapper's September 2018 death due to mixed drug toxicity. “I adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will.” Grande also paid tribute to her ex in her song, “Thank U, Next,” singing, “Wish I could say, ‘Thank You’ to Malcom / ‘Cause he was an angel.”

Pete Davidson

Things between Grande and Pete Davidson seemingly progressed faster following their respective splits from Miller and Cazzie David. Davidson confirmed their relationship on Instagram in May 2018, sharing a photo of the couple posing in Harry Potter outfits, which he captioned, “The chamber of secrets has been opened.” A month later the comedian and Grande had gotten engaged, with the former proposing a $93,000 diamond ring. He later revealed to Jimmy Fallon of their plans to wedding, "I feel like I won a contest, so sick. It’s f—king lit.”

However, Us Weekly confirmed in October 2018 that they had broken up, with a source telling the outlet, "They realized it happened too quick and too early.” On November 3, Davidson spoke out about their split during Saturday Night Live’s "Weekend Update" segment. "I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business, and sometimes things just don’t work out, and that’s OK,” he told viewers. “She’s a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.”

Mikey Foster

Grande had jumped into a new relationship with Social House member Mikey Foster by August 2019. A source confirmed to Page Six at that time that Grande and Foster had been seeing each other for a while. The pair caught the attention of their fans when they made out their collaborative “Boyfriend” music video. However, things between them eventually fell apart after a few months.

Dalton Gomez

In February 2020, Grande sparked relationship rumors with the real estate agent after they were seen kissing during a night out with friends. An insider reportedly told to US Weekly that they met when he was hired to help her find a house to buy before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. "He is the type of guy she has been looking for," a source exclusively told the outlet in August. "He's very protective of her, will go out of his way for her, and does little things that are chivalrous. Dalton will go above and beyond to meet her needs."

The singer announced their engagement in December 2020, showing off her diamond and pearl engagement ring on Instagram and captioning it, "Forever n then some." "Ariana is beyond excited," a source told. "She has really enjoyed getting to know and falling in love with Dalton out of the spotlight, something she didn't get to do in her past relationships. They are so in love and committed to spend the rest of their lives together." The outlet confirmed that they got married in May 2021. "It was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people," her representatives told the outlet. "The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn't be happier."
