MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA: Aaron Deshong, who shared a residence with his mother Wanda Deshong and brother Adam Deshong, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and possession of a weapon used in the killings.
The 49-year-old Pennsylvania man is potentially facing a lifetime in prison for the alleged murder of his 53-year-old brother and 74-year-old mother.
Horror unfolds in Perkiomen Township, Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania State Police in Sippack responded to an emergency call on September 24 at a residence in Perkiomen Township, located approximately 27 miles northwest of Philadelphia, according to lawandcrime.com.
Aaron Deshong had contacted the FBI Threat Assessment Center, expressing concerns about his family members.
Upon arriving at the scene, troopers found Aaron Deshong still on the phone with the FBI and detained him immediately.
Inside the home, they discovered the lifeless bodies of Wanda Deshong and Adam Deshong in the kitchen, both with apparent fatal gunshot wounds.
A .38-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, registered to Aaron Deshong, was recovered from the residence, containing four spent shell casings and two live rounds.
Autopsies confirm cause of death in double homicide
Autopsies conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office confirmed that Wanda Deshong died from a single gunshot wound to the head, while Adam Deshong's cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. Both deaths were ruled homicides.
Additional details from court documents revealed that during the FBI call, Adam Deshong mentioned his mother and brother but indicated they couldn't come to the phone at the time.
"Deshong related he has two shotguns, two rifles and a pistol. The pistol is on him, and the other guns are locked away. Deshong related his brother and mother are there and alluded to the fact that he hurt them. Deshong related that his family members are in the kitchen and cannot come to the phone,” the criminal complaint reportedly states.
It also adds, “Additionally, troopers were advised that Deshong’s brother and mother were present and may be injured.”
When inquired about the well-being of the two individuals, Adam Deshong is said to have replied, “That’s a good question.”
He also conveyed to the intake agent that he had been living in a precarious state of mind since his father's death, expressing a lack of suicidal intent and a lack of trust in the local law enforcement officers.
According to the documents, troopers discovered both victims lying in what appeared to be substantial blood pools encircling their heads.
