NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Mark Margolis, who played the iconic role of 'Hector Salamanca' in 'Breaking Bad', had a long and happy marriage with his wife, Jacqueline. They reportedly tied the knot on June 3, 1962, and remained together for more than six decades.

Margolis, the Emmy-nominated actor who starred in 'Better Call Saul' was 83. He died on Thursday 3 August at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. The cause of death has not been announced yet.

Deadline reported, Mark Margolis's wife, who is from Far Rockway, New York, stayed by his bedside at the time of his death. Even though not much is known about Jacqueline, she has been featured in multiple movies including 'Summer of Sam,' 1999, 'City Hall', 2003, and 'Mental Health' 2013 as indicated in IMBD Profile.

The Sun reported Jacqueline was born on November 22, 1939, in Queens, New York. According to her Facebook account, she attended Far Rockaway High School and the University of Miami.

Mark’s son, Morgan Margolis, who is also an actor and the CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment, confirmed that his father died on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City after a short illness. He told The Hollywood Reporter: “He was a brilliant actor and an even better human being.”

'He was one of a kind'

Robert Kolker manager of Red Letter Entertainment said, "He was one of a kind. “We won’t see his likes again. He was a treasured client and a lifelong friend. I was lucky to know him.”

Born on November 26, 1939, in Philadelphia, Adler had a “larger than life” influence on Margolis, which inspired him to pursue a career on stage. He acted in the 1962 Broadway show 'Infidel Caesar', a play based on Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, but it closed before its official opening. Margolis then started Blue Dome, a traveling theatre group that performed experimental works like 'The Conquest of Mexico' by Antonin Artaud at various academic institutions in the US. After returning to New York, Margolis appeared in more than 50 Off-Broadway plays, including Uncle Sam and The Golem. Later in his career, he focused on television.

The family has planned his private memorial.

He appeared in many TV shows besides 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul', such as 'The Equalizer', 'Oz, Kings', and 'American Horror Story: Asylum on FX'. He also had guest roles on shows like 'Crossing Jordan', 'Californication', 'Person of Interest', 'Gotham', and 'The Affair on Showtime'. In the second season of the Showtime series 'Your Honor', he played 'Carmine Conti', a mob boss.

Besides his wife Jacqueline Margolis, Mark is survived by his son Morgan Margolis and his wife Heide Margolis; grandchildren Ben, Aidan, and Henry Margolis; brother Jerome and his wife Ann Margolis. The family has reportedly planned his private memorial.
