LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beyonce’s half-brother Nixon Knowles is a strapping 13-year-old boy who is often questioned by his classmates whether he is the “brother” of Queen Bey. Nixon is the son of ‘Destiny’s Child’ star’s father Matthew Knowles and ‘Scrubs’ actress Alexsandra Wright. While Nixon and his mother live just 10 miles from the ‘Halo’ singer’s massive $200 million California mansion, the step-siblings do not reportedly have any connection.
In a recent tell-all interview with The Sun, the self-established woman shared her journey as a single mother after they had to live in a two-bedroom trailer when they were bankrupt in 2014, following a court battle with Matthew Knowles. While the boy is not close to Beyonce, Wright reveals, he has often asked her, “Why doesn’t that person love me?” leaving the mother without an answer.
Wright, who is now the CEO of Global Collective, said, “She (Beyonce) is a billionaire and just bought the most expensive house in California, ten miles from where we live,” however, she says, “But no, there has not been any contact.” She admits that, “The pain still needs to heal.”
However, she says that, “My main concern has been dealing with a child that asks, ‘Why doesn’t that person love me?’” The embattled mother reveals, “It’s a very human story and I sit in the bathroom and cry sometimes because I just don’t know how to help him be his own person,” before adding, “They have Snapchat and all that.” She hopes, however, “I think they will find a way to open up and have that conversation.”
Who is Nixon Knowles?
Knowles was conceived by his mother Alexandra Wright during her two-year-long relationship with Beyonce’s father Matthew Knowles. As per The Sun, the 13–year-old Nixon cherishes his Nintendo Switch gaming system which is estimated to be around $300. He studies in a non-fee paying school where he won the Spelling Bee competition recently.
Nixon’s favorite pastimes are cooking HelloFresh meals and playing basketball in the park. Like any normal child, his clothes are bought from discount stores. He lives with his mother in a five-bedroom house in one of the suburbs of Los Angeles.
Despite being raised as a normal teenager, he is often faced with difficult situations when his schoolmates or other strangers ask him about his identity. Wright described the difficult situation in the interview, “People will ask him straight up at school, ‘Are you the brother?’ Whatever they can Google they will ask him directly and even the grown-ups will take pictures of him.”
Wright made it a point to highlight the difficulties Nixon is facing being related to Beyonce, even remotely. She continued, “Nixon has never had the luxury of being a normal child,” before adding, “Being related to someone famous smothers kids like him and they lose their identity.” She explained, “They are so and so’s brother or stepkid. It’s hard for him to comprehend and he’s a quiet kid and very reserved.”
While she says, “I tell him, ‘fame does not equal happiness’ so never covet what someone else has’,” but accepts “But it’s hard to see people living as billionaires.” She concludes the segment asking poignantly, “What does that kid think when I am working 16 hours a day and trying to get accounts paid? How does it feel?”
'I don't expect Beyoncé to take accountability'
Earlier, Wright claimed that Matthew Knowles wanted her to hand over Nixon to Beyonce her rapper husband Jay-Z when the baby was born in 2010. She said in an interview to Inside Edition in 2014, that she doesn’t expect the ‘Crazy in Love’ singer to be boithered about her child.
She said, "I don't expect Beyoncé to take accountability. It's not her problem. It's not her situation." She also added that "I tried everything to not have it public," before saying, "But unfortunately that's just not the way that Matthew chose to deal with this.
