LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: More than a decade after a series of horrifying murders rocked the peaceful Gilgo Beach area, an arrest was finally made. A New York-based architect Rex Heuermann, 59, has been taken into custody on Friday, July 14. Heuermann is charged with three first-degree murder charges and three second-degree murder charges. Heuermann is also suspected of killing a fourth woman.
However, no matter how heinous the crimes, suspects are always given the chance to represent themselves in court. After allegedly terrorizing the Long Island South Shore area of New York with a string of murders that left several families grieving, Heuermann will have his day in court. He has been appointed a lawyer by the court, Michael Brown of Suffolk County, who has more than 25 years of experience and will be representing his case in the upcoming trial.

There’s not much I can tell you folks at this point in time," before adding, "I will say to you folks that it’s extremely circumstantial in nature. In terms of speaking to my client, the only thing I can tell you that he did say, as he was in tears, was 'I didn’t do this.'"
