ILLINOIS, CHICAGO: Sarah Chowdhury, an attorney working for the Illinois state Comptroller’s Office, has been terminated from her position following a series of abhorrent antisemitic comments made by her, as per New York Post.

Chowdhury found herself at the center of a firestorm after sending vile, antisemitic messages to a Jewish individual on Instagram.

Sarah Chowdhury's antisemitic tirade

The attorney in question, Chowdhury, engaged in a disturbing exchange of private messages with an Instagram account known as 'Big Law Boiz.' In these messages, she unleashed a disturbing torrent of hate speech directed at Jewish people.

The messages included phrases such as, "I'd rather put you in a gas chamber" and the shockingly abhorrent, "Hitler should have eradicated all of you."

Moreover, Chowdhury went so far as to refer to Jews as "vermin" and proclaimed that "all Zionists should pay." Her messages took an even darker turn with statements like, "Hopefully someone sends you anthrax or poison, and you die a slow, terrible death."

Illinois Comptroller's Office responds to Sarah Chowdhury's antisemitism

When the messages came to light, the Illinois Comptroller's Office was prompt in its response. The office released a statement indicating that they became aware of Chowdhury's private messages around 12.30 pm that day.

Shortly after, Comptroller Susana Mendoza contacted Chowdhury about an hour and a half later, leading to her swift termination.

The statement from the Comptroller's Office was unequivocal, asserting, "Comptroller Mendoza has zero tolerance for antisemitism or hate speech."

Furthermore, Chowdhury was also removed from her position as the president of the South Asian Law Association, with the association firmly denouncing her words and expressing deep sadness over their impact.

In the aftermath of her dismissal, Chowdhury expressed remorse for her actions. She described her comments as "inappropriate and reprehensible" and issued an apology to the person she messaged and anyone who may have been affected by her hateful remarks.

She admitted that her distress over the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict and her frustration with media coverage and social media discussions had led to her actions. She was clear in her declaration that "antisemitism has no place anywhere."

Netizens react to Sarah Chowdhury's dismissal from her job

As soon as it was revealed that Chowdhury was removed from her position, netizens started rejoicing and felt she got what she had deserved. Users across various platforms expressed their views.

One user on X wrote: "Wholesome hate brought to you by the kind of people you'd expect to have a Coexist sticker on their Prius."

While another person said: "Wow. What an ugly soul."

A third user wrote: "Good. That extremist hate has no place in any government position." Another user remarked: "Blacklist her and all the other hate filled leftists."

A fifth user sarcastically wrote: "The tolerant left."

This incident is not isolated, as it is part of a concerning trend where individuals have made increasingly antisemitic remarks in recent days as the Israel-Hamas conflict escalates with fiery opinions being thrown around.

Several have faced repercussions for being blatantly antisemitic.

Citibank, for example, terminated an employee who posted shocking commentary on Instagram endorsing mass murder during the Holocaust, and an Atlanta cancer doctor was placed on leave for celebrating the militant group Hamas and wishing for "no peace on stolen land" in a Facebook post.
