EUGENE, OREGON: In the women's 400-meter final at the US Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday, July 8 in Eugene, Oregon, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won after clocking 48.74 seconds, a record for the fastest lap and personal best.
In addition, McLaughling-Levrone came within four-hundredths of a second of tying with Sanya Richards-Ross' 400-meter American record. She told NBC Sports, "The greats always push themselves, and I want to be one of them, So I have to push myself and get out of my comfort zone."
Talitha Diggs finished third, barely 0.14 seconds behind Britton Wilson, who finished second with a time of 49.79 seconds, per the The Wichita Eagle.

She said, "We had a mutual friend who I went to high school with and he went to college with, but we didn't interact until he slid into my D.M.s. We started off as friends. He asked me to do Bible study with him and introduced me to so many great people."
McLaughlin-Levrone said that after just a few discussions, she realized the former NFL player was the "right person" for her. She said,"We both knew early on that we liked each other and what our intentions were. If I could say the one thing about our relationship, it's that it was always very intentional. Honestly, I knew the fourth day we ever talked.”
McLaughlin-Levrone and Andre are upfront about their religious beliefs. Faith is one of the main factors contributing to the couple's closeness, according to the runner, who has mentioned this several times. She said, "A big part of meeting my fiancé had to do with the evolution of my faith, finding who I am in Christ and submitting all my plans to God. Not long after I did that, I met Andre. It was the first time I was in a relationship with a man who I felt could lead me in my faith to a place where I wanted to be." McLaughlin-Levrone went so far as to call her relationship with Andre "God-sent".
