DOUGLAS COUNTY, NEVADA: A man has been taken into custody after being accused of being a non-consensual "foot fondler". Mark Anthony Gonzales allegedly entered into the rooms of two unidentified women on two different days by using unlocked screen doors and rubbed their feet as they slept at a luxury resort. The incidents reportedly happened between July 1 to 3, 2023, at Nevada's Club Wyndham South Shore Hotel.

However, the 26-year-old was finally nabbed on Tuesday, August 1, at his home in Atwater, California. He has been pressed with two counts of burglary and two counts of battery charges, as per a statement by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada, which also stated that the suspect “will be held in the Merced County Jail with on a fugitive warrant with a bail of $50,000 until he is extradited back to Douglas County, Nevada.”

Gonzales is believed to be the 'Lake Tahoe Foot Fondler'. He was reportedly caught with the help of forensic techniques. The official statement shared, “DCSO Investigators learned Gonzales was known to local law enforcement in the Atwater/Merced County, California area and was the suspect of numerous crimes, including the theft of women’s shoes, trespassing, and sexual self-gratification during some of these incidents. It appeared to DCSO Investigators that Gonzales’ crimes were escalating in nature.”

Following the man’s arrest, Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley said, “I am extremely pleased that my Investigators were able to identify, locate, and arrest this individual. These types of crimes are especially alarming to a community, and being able to make an arrest allows the victims and community to feel safe again.”
