LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Rex Heuermann who has been taken into custody after he was suspected to be the murderer in the Gilgo Beach serial killings and has been charged with first-degree murder is a New York City-based architect. The 59-year architect who was busted Friday, July 14 in connection to the cold case had many high-profile including Nike and Target

The married father of two founded his firm Rex Heuermann Consultants and Associates in 1994. With offices at 385 Fifth Avenue, the projects undertaken by his company were focused in the New York City area. Heuermann was arrested for the alleged killings of Amber Costello, Melissa Barthelemy, and Megan Waterman, and is considered a prime suspect in the death of the 'Gilgo Four' who is identified as Maureen Brainard-Barnes. He pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder in the first degree and three counts of murder in the second degree, according to New York Post.

Heuermann, who called himself a "troubleshooter" in his architectural practice, stated that his company provided services to major tenants at JFK International Airport, American Airlines, Catholic Charities, and NYC-DEP Sewerage Treatment. The firm has been associated with nearly 300 different projects in the city. Below given are some of his firm's major projects:

Target — Soho Cast Iron District

RHC collaborated with Target's team of designers for their latest Target flagship store in Soho Cast Iron District in Manhattan. The firm worked on the elevators and escalators in the 1884 historic building. Multiple floors of the landmark building were re-structured and the retail space was given new ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design) compliant entrances designed to make it accessible to disabled people.

Central Park West

Heuermann's firm worked with Central Park West Apartment for the renovation of the two-bedroom, two-bathroom building for a city homeowner. The 1920s apartment underwent renovation by giving it one common bathroom, one ADA-compliant bathroom, new cabinetry, new doors, and new wood flooring.

Savoir Beds

Design and architectural services were provided for the upscale bed brand, Savoir Beds. RH Architecture fully renovated the showroom in the existing Upper East Side building. Showcasing the brand's pieces, built-in illuminated display niches and recessed lighting details were given along with herringbone wood flooring throughout the store.

Bellami

New York City's top-tier hair salon Bellami located in the Meatpacking District at 410 W. 14th St was provided a full renovation by RH Architect. The 2,800 square feet of retail space was restructured and the building exterior was redesigned.

Foot Locker

Foot Locker's latest three-floor store near Yankee Stadium in The Bronx was completely done by RH Architects. The 12, 600 square feet of retail space located at 30 E. 170th St, has included the building's characteristics and Heuermann's firm has also obtained the store's Certificate of Occupancy.

New York City Office – 385 Fifth Ave. Suite 1100

Built in 1929, the New York City Office building that houses the offices of RH Architect is situated on 36th Street and Fifth Avenue. The 16-floor building which has security guard services has yearly leasing of $100, 000. The office also shares space with co-working office space, WeWork, and a physical therapy office, The Vitamin Shoppe.

Heuermann's firm provided over thirty years of service

According to RHC's website, the company "has extensive experience providing over thirty years of service dealing with the New York City Building Code, the New York State Code, the NYC Department of Buildings, and all major city agencies."

"For over 20 years RH has been adding beauty and structure with concept-driven designs at multiple scales from educational facilities, residential works, as well as mix use and office design, public works, and master planning," says the website.

Journalist Anna Peele took to Twitter to share her story of Heuermann's proposal to replace a boiler in her Chelsea building. "Last month, an architect came to our building and made a bid to replace the boiler. He was Rex Heuermann, the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer," she tweeted.
