Why did Joe Rogan get nose surgery done? Commentator calls it 'Greatest decision ever'

AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan is a successful stand-up comedian and UFC presenter. A long career, particularly one involving fighting, cannot be injury-free. He invited a martial artist, Sean O’Malley, to his podcast, 'The Joe Rogan Experience,' where he spoke about his nose surgery and why he got it done.

On the podcast, O'Malley stated that he needed his nose corrected but was skeptical because he had heard that the nose weakens following surgery. Rogan, however, encouraged him to get the surgery because he believed that the advantages outweighed the risks.

Why Joe Rogan got nose surgery done?

Rogan has been candid about his experiences, admitting to having nose surgery done. Explaining that he had the procedure to fix a deviated septum, Rogan also stated that he is happy with the results of the operation and that it improved his breathing. He told O'Malley, “It will help with cardio. I got mine done a while back. 15 years ago. Greatest decision I ever made.”

A deviated septum occurs when the thin wall between the nasal passages, known as the nasal septum, slips to one side. It can restrict one side of the nose, limiting airflow and making breathing difficult and may also produce crusting or bleeding. The septum can be cured with medication and surgery.

Rogan tweeted about his surgery when he had it done, back in 2009, saying, "My recovery from my nose operation requires cleaning my nose out with a waterpick pumping a diluted peroxide solution up my nose to clean it."

O'Malley also revealed to Rogan that he sleeps with his mouth taped shut. He went on to say how much he wanted to get inside the gym and spend time around jiu-jitsu. O'Malley stated that he was eager to get into the ring and grapple. Rogan said that now was probably the best time to have the procedure.

Joe Rogan had eye issues

Rogan has experienced problems with his eyes as well. He was losing his vision and needed to take special medication to keep the problem from worsening. In an earlier episode of his podcast, the UFC commentator discussed his eye problem with guests.

He said, “I couldn’t read off a laptop.” “I was like, I can’t f**ling read this," he added as per Essentially Sports. Rogan stated that he had to take pure encapsulation with macular support to alleviate his eye concerns. He admitted that his vision wasn't terrific, but it wasn't deteriorating.

"Like it might’ve actually got a little better. I don’t have a problem reading my phone,” he continued, “like reading text messages and s**t."
