Why did police visit Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's property? Family no stranger to legal troubles

WASHINGTON, ARKANSAS: Police paid a visit to the ‘19 Kids and Counting’ famed Duggar family’s Arkansas property on Sunday morning. According to online sources, the sheriff's department officers went to their property which spans over 20 acres at 8.26 am on Sunday, June 25. However, the source claimed their destination was not the Duggar family’s home.

This comes amid reports that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, known for their large family and conservative values, are facing significant financial challenges following the cancellation of their reality series and the legal expenses incurred during their eldest son Josh Duggar's high-profile trial. According to a source, the couple, who were once worth $3.5 million, is currently struggling with financial strain as they navigate legal fees and provide support to Josh's wife, Anna, and their six children.

It is also not known for whom the call was meant, or whether Jim and Michelle had any connection to the call. The Duggar family rose to prominence after their successful stint at TLC’s ‘19 Kids and Counting’. Jim Bob and Michelle have been married since 1984 and share 19 children together, including Josh, twins Jana and John-David, Jill, Jessa, Jinger among others.

Why did the police visit Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's property?

As per Instagram user Katie Joy (Without a Crystal Ball), “Washington County Sheriff’s Department made a visit to the Duggar property on Sunday 6/25/23 at 8:26 am.” The account also gave the reason as “a follow up investigation” as per the “calls for service log”.

They noted that while the address at which the police visited was inside the 20-acres land the Duggars own, the address was not the Duggar’s family home. The source noted, “The property contains numerous buildings, multiple homes, and warehouses," before adding, “The address number is within the numbers of the buildings/homes on the Duggar property - but is not the Duggar home.”

There were, however no arrests and warrants “listed for anyone in the Duggar family in Washington County.” News agencies like The Sun and In Touch confirmed the news.

The Duggar family's history with legal troubles

The ‘Counting On’ family is no stranger to police entanglement with their family members. The eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Josh Duggar, was arrested for one count of possessing and one count of receiving child pornography in April 2021, as per In Touch. For the crime, he has been sentenced to 151-month, which he is currently serving. It is said that Josh is currently planning to appeal the sentence.

He initially pleaded not guilty, but in December 2021 he was convicted of both crimes. In May 2022, Josh was finally sentenced to a little over ten years of prison sentence. He is now spending his prison term at the Federal Correctional Facility (FCI) in Seagoville, Texas. Josh is scheduled to be released on August 12, 2032.

Not only Josh, but the ‘19 Kids and Counting’ famed couple’s daughter Jana Duggar also had an unpleasant experience with the law. She was charged with endangering a minor in September 2021. After pleading not guilty to the charge, Jana took to her Instagram stories to narrate her tale, “I prefer a more private life, but I know my last name means that everything we do is open to public criticism and interest, especially during this time,” before adding, “The raw facts: I was babysitting a few months ago when one of the children wandered outside alone. A passerby who saw the child called the police. This resulted in a written citation, as well as a follow-up with child welfare who concluded that it was an accident and the child was unharmed. They recognized it was a case of a child slipping out of the house when you turn your back for a moment.” She was, however, relieved of the charge later.
