'Why put your finale vs both the NBA and NHL Conference finals?': 'American Idol' fans slam makers for three-hour conflicting schedule

BRENTWOOD, CALIFORNIA: It's just a matter of time before we find out who wins this season of 'American Idol' on May 21's episode. The season finale airs at 8 PM ET, but how long is it?

Megan Danielle, Iam Tongi, and Colin Stough are this season's Top 3, and they are all really skilled. How will viewers choose a winner through at-home voting? The three are undoubtedly difficult to choose between, and each person has a favorite. The competition series' two-hour, two-night format has become familiar to viewers. Is the episode going to be shorter or longer given that this evening this Sunday evening is the season finale? The answer has proven to be a disappointing one for some viewers.

'Will NOT be watching Celtics at Heat on DVR'

The season finale of 'American Idol' will air live tonight, and viewers are dissatisfied with the three-hour length. The show's regular episodes are usually two hours long. The finale, on the other hand, lasts an extra hour. Viewers also slammed the show on social media for its hour-longer finale and clashing with the NBA and NHL Conference finals.

One viewer wrote on Twitter, "This was my first season watching, I enjoyed it very much but a 3 hr. finale is just too much, IMO." Another person wrote, "3 hours is too long!" One fan quipped, "Do they really think we the #AmericanIdol viewers want to waste 3 hours watching stuff like this?" One tweeted, "Not this fob dude asking me to go live for American idol. Mind you it’s 3 hrs long."

Speaking of the Sunday game, one fan tweeted, "There no way ABC airs it a dime past 7 on the ECT especially past 8 no change in hell ABC puts NHL pver American idol on the EC." Another chimed in saying, "So we can’t watch NHL on ABC because Funniest home video (this this still a show…hear of internet lately), and American idol? Come on @DisneyStudios be better. I know you have to have the Sox or Yanks on Sunday nights but use your other options." One fan wondered, "What if this game goes to Triple Overtime, and they have to choose between this game and American Idol." Another hoped, "Hope this is the longest game in nhl history and they’re forced to talk about it. Cuts into American idol tomigjt."

On Instagram, an angry fan wrote, "Why in God's name would you put your finale vs both the NBA and NHL Conference finals? And, LOL, the Voice has done the same thing. Let me give you a little hint--I will NOT be watching Celtics at Heat on DVR. I will watch your show on Hulu on Monday."
