NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A man who allegedly stalked actress Drew Barrymore in New York and showed up at her home was released by a judge on Friday, August 25.

Chad Michael Busto, 43, was charged with stalking in the fourth degree, which does not allow bail, according to the Daily Mail.

What was Chad Michael Busto ordered to do?

Chad Michael was ordered to wear a GPS tag and stay away from the 48-year-old star.

Busto, who claimed to be homeless and living in a shelter, also asked for permission to travel to Texas for another hearing on September 3, though the details of that case were not clear.

Busto’s obsession with Barrymore came to light on Monday when he rushed the stage at an event hosted by the “Charlie’s Angels” star at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan.

Chad Michael has a long rap sheet

He has a history of criminal offenses in several states, including disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, and trespassing.

Busto has been arrested in Georgia, Minnesota, Florida, and California for disorderly conduct, indecent exposure, trespassing, and other crimes, according to the Santa Monica Daily Press.

How did Barrymore respond to the stalker?

He shouted her name and said he needed to see her while she was in New York. Barrymore responded to him with a friendly “Oh my God, yes? Hi!” before a bodyguard intervened and stopped him.

She was then escorted offstage by another actress, Reneé Rapp, who was co-hosting the event with her. The event was part of Barrymore’s promotion for her new Netflix show, 'The Sex Lives of College Girls.'

How did Chad Michael get to Barrymore's farmhouse?

Two days later, Busto showed up at Barrymore’s $6 million farmhouse in Southampton and went door to door looking for her.

He was arrested by the police in the Village of Sagaponack, Town of Southampton, on the steps of Barrymore's $6 million farmhouse after a 911 call regarding a suspicious person in the affluent area.

Busto was also reportedly banned from an online fan forum for Amber Heard, another actress he was obsessed with, according to some sources cited by the publication.

He is expected to appear in court again on September 12.
