Will Smith puts Marcell Ozuna on blast after Braves-Dodgers drama

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith and Atlanta Braves slugger Marcell Ozuna have beef, and lots of it.

You won't like Will Smith when he's angry — the incident with Chris Rock at The Oscars should've proved that fact years ago. Yes, even this article will have Will Smith puns.

Yet, Marcell Ozuna still tested the Dodgers catcher, hitting him in the head with his backswing during Monday night's game.

Ozuna made sure Smith was okay, but the LA star wanted nothing to do with it. You see, Ozuna's backswing has a habit of making contact with just about any catcher, and Smith was the latest victim. Ozuna, who begins any swing like most, eventually finishes his backswing with one arm in a rather unusual approach. While it works for him, it puts opposing catchers and even sometimes the umpire in danger.

"I was just mad. He hit me in the head with his bat pretty hard. It's not the first time he's done that to me. He's done it to other catchers around the league," Smith said. "I just felt like there comes a point where I needed to say something there. In the moment, it kind of got a little heated."

If anything, the backswing bothered Smith more because he's coming off a recent concussion which forced him out of action. He's an important part of this Dodgers team and manages the pitching staff.

"I just came off a concussion three, four weeks ago…so, yeah. The catcher is the one back there. He's the one getting hit. It's my job and I'm the one wearing it," Smith said. "Hopefully I wake up tomorrow feeling good."

Smith and the Dodgers eventually got their revenge, with Freddie Freeman hitting a critical home run in an 8-6 comeback victory.
