MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA: Three men dressed as construction workers created a ripple on TikTok as they claimed the Colombian superstar Shakira and her latest song ‘El Jefe’ got them fired from their work.
Recently, three men posted a video on their TikTok account Los Panas where they were seen grooving to a portion of Shakira’s song where the ‘Waka Waka’ singer mentioned her ex Gerard Pique’s father and Lili Melgar - the nanny who was fired by the Barcelona star.
Melgar was purportedly dismissed from the job without compensation after she disclosed Pique’s alleged cheating to Shakira.
What did the three bricklayers do?
Recently, in a video uploaded on TikTok, the three men danced to a few verses of the song which they dedicated to their boss and asked for a raise in their wages, per Daily Express.
In the song, there are lyrics like "I have a lousy boss who doesn't pay me well, I walk to work while he arrives in a Mercedes-Benz, he treats me like a recruit, that son of a *****."
The three men dressed as construction workers grooved to the rhythm of the song and uploaded the video on their TikTok account with the caption, "We are dedicating this dance to our boss to demand a raise in our salary," per Marca.
Presumably, their employer saw the video which led to the trio’s dismissal from work.
In another video uploaded on the same social media account, the three men discussed the tragic situation where they lost their jobs instead of getting a hike in payment.
In no time the video went viral on TikTok with several followers relating to the predicament of the three bricklayers.
In the follow-up video, the men said, “The viral video cost us our jobs.”
In the video where the three were seen discussing the repercussions of their viral performance, one of the men said that the clip had reached their employer. But it failed to deliver the desired outcome.
The man said, "This video you see here went viral, and we didn't anticipate its significant impact, reaching our bosses. It has truly affected us.”
Marca noted that the other two performers also highlighted the positive and negative impact of their viral videos.
Did the three men really lose their jobs?
Per Marca, the three men left the netizens doubting their authenticity by the end of it all.
The outlet reported that when a particular portion of their performance of the dance went viral, they also performed on separate parts of the song wearing different attire and dancing in front of different settings.
They also started making use of their TikTok account ‘Los Panas’ quite frequently as they uploaded clips of others emulating their famous choreography.
The social media users started doubting their authenticity when the trio started promotions of empanadas and suggested they did not require ‘El Jefe’ anymore.
They even hinted that they were rehired by their former employer thus substantiating the doubts of the social media users.
As of now, there are no reports on the ground, confirming the three men's version of events.
