NEWARK, NEW JERSEY: MTV's Video Music Awards was all about glitzy, glamour and some disastrous fashion. The biggest music stars in music walked down the red carpet of VMA's 2023 at New Jersey's Prudential Center for the annual ceremony.
Hosted by Nicki Minaj, the award ceremony recognized this year's most notable music videos with coveted Moon Person trophies. While Taylor Swift leads this year's nominations with 11, closely followed by SZA with eight, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki, Olivia Rodrigo and BLACKPINK each tied with six.
Besides the awards, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and more music celebrities wowed us with their bold and elegant looks at the 2023 MTV VMAs. But some of the stars including Doja Cat, Demi Lovato and Yung Miami failed this year's glamour game.

Flo Milli
Flo Milli showed off her figure in a bright pink fringe two-piece outfit. Milli's fringe-filled skirt dished belly dancer vibes and was totally not worthy for the biggest night of music.
Additionally, Milli opted for black heels and that was completely mismatched from her look. Although Milli's makeup was subtle, her overall look was definitely unflattering.
Cyn Santana
Cyn Santana donned Miss Circle's all-black look. The singer styled her strapless black outfit with sheer gloves and thigh-high stockings.
Santana's outfit lacked glitzy and glamour and was too simple for VMAs and it appeared more like a funeral look.
Yung Miami
Yung Miami sported a bodysuit with XXL sleeves at MTV VMAs 2023. The rapper's futuristic virtual reality-style sunglasses with total black super-opaque glass and an embossed silver frame seemed quite eccentric for a music award ceremony.
Miami had gone too far in choosing her outfit which was definitely perfect for the swimwear fashion show. No doubt, the singer's look was dubbed 'worst' by Twitter users.
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato opted for an overcoat with shoulder pads, wearing it over a matching minidress featuring sheer panels. The exaggerated silhouette of the coat failed to define her stunning figure and gave a more dumpy look.
Lovato completed her look with perfect and stunning makeup. The singer's look also could be perfect for the VMAs if she had dumped her overcoat which gave her voluminous shoulders.
NLE Choppa
NLE Choppa opted to coordinate the Barbie-hued flooring with a purple ensemble. He wanted to recreate Jimmi Hendrix's but his unpleasantly purple apparel just wasn't quite working.
Choppa ditched the shirt underneath and opted for the jacket to look unique and updated, but he ended up looking strange, disjointed, and a bit like a few borrowed pieces from Willy Wonka's suit.
Doja Cat
Doja Cat channeled Monse with jewellery from Maria Tash and Nicole Rose. Wrapped in web strings, the singer opted for a barely-there outfit at the 2023 MTV VMAs.
Doja's matching greyish-white hair, a pair of nude string bikini undies, and nude-toned heels were too bold for the music event. Although won six 2023 VMAs awards, her Halloween-ready look doesn't quite make the cut.
Saweetie
Saweetie opted for the classic cartoon, 'The Flintstones', a look-alike outfit from Area's Fall/Winter 2023 couture runway. The outfit featured small cutouts which could be seen on each side of the sleeveless gown that contained a hem that fell down to brush the ground.
Saweetie outfit featured two large bones and was a majorly awkward blunder. Unfortunately, the caveman-inspired look was unflattering and a subject of social media trolls.
Fat Joe
Although oversized clothes are in trend, it was just not for Fat Joe. The singer arrived at the MTV VMAs in a pastel colour palette styled with a white overcoat.
However, Joe's outfit was a little bland for the iconic artist. Notably, the all-white ensemble failed to elongate Joe's figure.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj walked the pink carpet of MTV VMAs in Dolce & Gabbana. Minaj opted for a quite bizarre bubblegum pink bridal gown with a see-through bottom.
The rapper appeared to forget that she had to attend a music award ceremony, not a wedding as she completed her look with a matching lace veil over her face.
Anitta
Anitta opted for a black gaping keyhole cutout dress by Schiaparelli Couture. Although her dress had a skintight vibe, it was a bit confusing and distracting.
Anitta's beige bra, yellow earrings, and asymmetrical red earrings just didn't come together. Additionally, Anitta's headband made her look like she should be sporting her workout clothes instead of an evening gown.
