xQc slams Ice Spice’s ‘Deli’ music video over ‘weird display of sexuality,’ fans side with Kick streamer, say he's 'not wrong'

QUEBEC, CANADA: In a no-holds-barred critique, popular Twitch star xQc reviewed rapper Ice Spice's music video for her song 'Deli'. He took issue with what he described as a "weird display of sexuality" portrayed in the viral video and made it clear that the song was simply "not it" for him. In the video, Ice Spice and a group of women can be seen twerking in a bodega, and it has garnered immense attention, reaching over 2 million views on YouTube within one day. While the rapper's fans are loving the track, xQc stands as one of the dissenting voices.

xQc is no stranger to the limelight himself, boasting a colossal online presence as one of Twitch's most-followed broadcasters, with a dedicated fan base of over 11 million on that platform alone despite recently making a switch to Kick. His charisma and entertaining content have catapulted him to fame.

'It’s f**king weird, man'

Despite xQc's well-known fondness for Ice Spice, it appears that he wasn't impressed with her latest music video 'Deli'. During his reaction to the video, xQc's disappointment was evident, as he visibly frowned while watching. This reaction was in stark contrast to his previous interactions with the rapper, where he had conveyed his admiration through direct messages.

In fact, the 'Deli' music video served as an example for xQc to highlight his concerns with social media. He believed that the video's "weird display of sexuality" is a recurring issue on platforms like TikTok, particularly from young users who engage in such explicit content. The criticism reflects his stance on the influence and impact of sexually charged media on impressionable audiences.

“Way back when, I told you guys, weird displays of like, sexuality-slash-nudity on TikTok, is crazy,” xQc said. “Especially the weird sexual stuff or whatever, when it’s literally underaged teenagers.” Continuing to give his opinion on the video, he said, “I don’t know. I get it, because it’s a song, okay? I have somewhat of a problem seeing children singing lyrics like, ‘blowing her back,’ and s**t like that. I’m not trying to virtue signal. I think it’s f**king weird, man.”

He also seemingly did not like the song itself as he said, “The song is two minutes long, and the chorus — the hook — happens like four times. How is that even possible?” He added, “I don’t wanna be overly-negative, chat. I like some of her music, maybe one song. This song, it feels like it has no drive, no energy. It doesn’t go anywhere. It’s not catchy. It doesn’t make you move.”

'Female rappers are only famous cuz of their body'

xQc's remarks have sparked discussions among fans, with some holding controversial and problematic beliefs like, "Half the female rappers are only famous cuz of their body." Another user wrote, "I think the overly sexual shit constantly being pushed down our throats make it annoying. Like twerking, I find it to be insanely trashy. Like a bird trying to get a mate and I just laugh." One user took a dig at xQc, declaring, "Says the dude who likes and saves coomer tik toks." "Bro still has the whale twerking on Ice in his mind," said another user. A fifth user wrote, "Not wrong, that girl twerking on the counter in the Ice Spice vid is 16."
