'You knew about it': Amy Duggar lashes out at uncle Jim for not protecting his daughters from 'predator' Josh Duggar

ROGERS, ARKANSAS: On June 8, Amy (Duggar) King attacked her uncle, Jim Bob Duggar, in a nasty TikTok video. She accused him of neglecting to safeguard his daughters, Jill (Duggar) Dillard and Jessica Duggar, from their violent brother, Josh Duggar.

Amy is acting in the best interests of her family. The '19 Kids and Counting' star revealed that the famous brood's numerous controversial attitudes and acts have made her wary of allowing her 3-year-old son, Daxton, to be near them. "I don't know if he's ever really going to get to know them, which I hate to say," she said to Entertainment Tonight Canada. Amy added to the controversy among family leaders Jim and Michelle Duggar and her numerous cousins, saying, "I hope eventually they can be honest and they can be upfront … but I don’t know. I don’t know."

Amy lashes out at Jim

Amy had a message for her uncle Jim after the Duggar docuseries 'Shiny Happy People' premiered. "It all kind of boils down to this, right?" Amy started in a TikTok video posted on June 8. "If you’re not going to protect those beautiful daughters from a predator that was living inside of your home, and you knew about it, and you’re gonna sweep it under the rug, and your mentality is kinda just to brush it off and to hide it and to lie, not only do I not respect you anymore, but I also don’t want to give you a right to get to know my child. Because I will protect my child at all costs."

Amy was referring to her cousin Josh, who is Jim and Michelle's eldest son. Josh was accused of abusing multiple underage girls as a teenager in 2015. Jill and Jessa, his sisters, were eventually identified as two of the fatalities. They defended their family at the time, telling Megyn Kelly that they had "already forgiven" their brother.

Years later, Jim Bob said he couldn't remember the specifics of Josh's purported admission that he had touched the victims. "We were shocked this had happened, but we were thankful he came on his own and told us," the Duggar patriarch testified for Josh, who was on trial for receiving and possessing child pornography in November 2021. Josh was convicted and sentenced to 12.5 years in jail in November 2022.

Amy, for one, didn't believe Jim Bob's assertion that he had no idea what was going on beneath his house. "Just focus on the fact [that] the abuse was hidden, and then [Jim Bob] was put on the stand, and he said, ‘Oh judge, I don’t recall.’ You don’t recall your daughters’ abuse?" the former TLC star remarked on TikTok. "You don’t recall that? Well, then, for me, I have to protect my son from you. Because something is not right here. A lot of screws are loose.

Amy believes that she must 'protect' her kid from the Duggars

"The thing is with trust is obviously it can be broken in an instant. Right? But it takes a long time to heal. It takes a long time to really trust someone," Amy explained. "And so for me, I feel like that trust is completely broken. If you’re going to cover up abuse, then, you know, if you’re not going to protect your kids or your children back in the day, I’m going to protect mine."

"If you are struggling in any type of area, you kind of have to hide it, and it festers up, and it turns into, you know, something evil and monstrous," the former reality star continued. "And so for me, I have to protect my little boy from that."

In the limited series, Amy came out against her family and their extreme religion, the Institute in Basic Life Principles, alongside her husband Dillon, cousin Jill (Duggar) Dillard, and Jill's husband Derick Dillard. Deanna Jordan, Jim Bob's sister, also appeared. Jim Bob and Michelle have already released a statement condemning the limited series.
