LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Michael Strahan, the co-host of ABC’s 'Good Morning America' (GMA), has found some time away from the studios. The former New York Giants player was recently spotted at a golf pitch playing for charity alongside other renowned sports personalities. What should have been a fun morning of banter and laughs, turned out to be a bitter reality check for the ex-National Football League (NFL) man who didn’t shy away from biting back on the witty comments from his peers.
Strahan was playing golf with Derek Jeter, the retired Major League Baseball (MLB) player of the New York Yankees. Alongside Derek and Strahan was Paige Spiranac, a social media personal and professional golfer who was equally invested in playing for charity just like the two royal sportsmen of New York. No one was hellbent on keeping the score but Jeter found it hard to keep his thoughts to himself. He reminded Strahan of something that he shouldn’t have.

What did Jeter say to Strahan?
The 'GMA'host recently posted a video on his Instagram documenting his game with Jeter and Paige. The brief clip captured a moment when Jeter reminded Strahan of his age in a very subtle way, making him feel old. "I grew up watching Michael Strahan," the former baseball player said. He then asked one of their friends and asked if they did too. Michael wasn’t having any of it and snapped right back. "You know what? You're just trying to make me feel old, man.”
Paige couldn’t help but jump in to pile on Strahan’s misery. "I wasn't even alive then,” she said. When one of the friends named Kevin started to speak to Paige and Jeter, Strahan intervened immediately. “Kevin, don't talk to him! Paige is the only one you can talk to on their team.” It looked like Strahan didn’t hear what Paige said but Jeter was quick to remind him. “Oh, you didn't hear what she said?" Derek asked.
Paige repeated what she said and Strahan shouted, "Don't talk to Paige either! Don't talk to either one of them. They are not our friends right now.” Even though it was friendly banter, Strahan has some unspoken grudge against Jeter that the 'GMA' host has never addressed.
Why has Strahan not called Derek back?
Earlier this year, Derek joined the FOX Sports baseball coverage team for the 2023 MLB season. The announcement came during the Super Bowl pregame show, during which the New York Yankees legend took a swipe at Strahan for not calling him back. Strahan was one of the anchors covering the Super Bowl game and welcomed Jeter awkwardly on the show. "This is like a New York reunion," Strahan said. This irked Jeter to respond with, “Maybe you'll call me back now.” There’s clearly some unresolved beef between the two that trickled to the golf pitch.
