Bengals: Zac Taylor got concerningly feisty about Joe Burrow injury update

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor gave an update on quarterback Joe Burrow's recovery, and it remains unchanged, so quit asking.

The Cincinnati Bengals entered training camp to prepare for another trip to the Super Bowl after they fell just short of doing so last year. But early on in camp, star quarterback Joe Burrow had to get carted off the practice field with what was later determined to be a calf strain. At the time, Taylor revealed that he would be out for several weeks.

Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase then made some waves in the NFL after comments he made about Burrow's recovery. Specifically, Chase said he didn't want to see Burrow on the field for their season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Chase stressed that sitting an extra game helped him fully recover from a hip injury last year.

On Wednesday, Taylor was asked about Chase's comments about his desired Burrow return timeline and how he is recovering, Taylor said, "The timeline is several weeks from when I said several weeks."

Bengals: Zac Taylor says Joe Burrow's recovery timeline remains unchanged

There you have it Bengals fans, Burrow's return is still several weeks from when Taylor first said his timeline was several weeks. Luckily, the Bengals still have a full month before the start of the season, so once we get closer to the conclusion of preseason games, there should be a clearer idea of when Burrow will be able to take the field and lead the Bengals offense this upcoming season.

With Burrow sidelined, the Bengals have Trevor Siemian as the top quarterback on their depth chart. Behind him is Jake Browning as the QB2, and Reid Sinnett.

Last season, Burrow threw for 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while completing 68.3 percent of his passes in 16 regular-season games. Through Cincinnati's three playoff games against the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Kansas City Chiefs, Burrow threw for 721 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions, while completing 72-of-109 pass attempts.

As of early August, there is still no updated recovery timeline for Burrow.
