In the comedy, James played deliveryman Doug Heffernan, and the show lasted for nine seasons from 1998-2007 this particular photo was taken by Tony Esparza for CBS Photo Archive/Getty Images. The image first became a meme template when a Twitter/X user posted the photo with the caption: "me after 1 double rum and diet," on September 22 which went viral with over 24,000 tweets, according to Know Your Meme. A man has revealed how he learning his brother used to date his wife of 20 years. In a post to Reddit's "Am I A**hole?" forum, the husband detailed how he found out the earth-shattering news from his sister-in-law at a family dinner. "My (50 ish m) wife (50 ish f) has been married 20+ years. My brother’s (45-ish m) wife (45-ish f) recently disclosed at a family dinner that my brother had a date(s) with my wife several weeks before we started dating. I never knew," he began. Myths we are told as children often go unchallenged and disguised as facts later in life, from bread crust making your hair curly to catching a cold if you go outside with wet hair – and chewing gum sitting in the stomach for seven years if swallowed. Sorry to break it to you, but they're all myths. Now, one professor of clinical gastroenterology from the University of Oxford set the record straight, calling the chewing gum claim nothing but an "old wives' tale". "I’ve no idea where the myth came from," Simon Travis told CNN. "I can only imagine that it was suggested because someone wanted to stop their children from chewing gum." The only inkling of truth is that chewing gum is not digestible, as Travis explains: "If you swallow chewing gum, it’ll go through the stomach, and go through into the intestine, and pass out unchanged at the other end." Swallowing three or more pieces a day is understandably considered excessive, however. "There are cases of chewing gum lodging in the intestines of infants and even children if they’ve swallowed a lot, and then it causes an obstruction," Travis continues. "But in over 30 years of specialist gastro practice, I’ve never seen a case." Among other medical myths that simply won't disappear is the idea that you have to wait an hour after eating before swimming, to avoid cramps. The myth is said to date back to around 1908 when it was featured in a a Boy Scout handbook. However, there is no reason to not swim after eating. People have been left bewildered after viewing an optical illusion of a spinning lady, as they try to figure out which way she is turning. Optical illusions have long been a favourite of the internet, sparking numerous online debates in the past from the 'Yanny or Laurel' audio, to the black/blue and white/gold dress. The reason we're often so interested in optical illusions is because what we see or hear challenges or disagrees with physical reality. Aude Oliva, a cognitive scientist from MIT, told Popular Mechanics that "the human brain is really tuned to learning new things. Anything that is new and surprising is something we naturally like because it mean we may learn something from it." The 'spinning lady' illusion was first posted to YouTube in 2018, asking viewers, "Which way is the lady spying? Left or right? Or both?" Many left comments sharing what they could see: "I had to watch it multiple times to see both," one user wrote. "My brain naturally sees her turn clockwise. But after watching it enough, if I change my focus it can change her direction." "At first I thought both, but when I focus on the eyes, nose and mouth as she spins, I just see her spinning left (clockwise)", wrote another. One user even said that the lady is "NOT SPINNING at all!" But rather "SWINGS like a pendulum!" A pregnant woman has defended her name choice for her unborn baby, even though it belonged to a close friend’s daughter who had passed away. The 30-year-old mum-to-be explained in a lengthy Reddit post that her childhood friend Camille had been pregnant with a little girl two years earlier but, tragically, the infant died during childbirth. “She had been struggling with fertility issues and her pregnancy had been difficult from the beginning. I don't need to explain how terrible it was for her,” the Redditor wrote. “She went into a deep depression and I have helped her in everything I could. She even came to live with my husband and [me] for a while.” The expectant mother explained that Camille’s late daughter was called Ingrid, and when she asked her if she’d come up with a name for her own daughter, she replied yes. Admitting that she’d been wanting to talk to Camille about it, she revealed her intentions to give her daughter the middle name Ingrid. “She started yelling at me that I was selfish, a bitch, an idiot for ‘stealing’ [her] baby's name,” our narrator recounted. “She yelled at me [asking] how could I do that to her knowing what that name means to her. I tried to explain but she wouldn't listen.” The 30-year-old then explained: “My reason is simple – I want to name it after my little cousin who passed away and was like a sister to me.” She said she was 16 when her cousin died, aged eight, following a cancer battle, and that she’d always known she would name her daughter after her. “Camille knew about my Ingrid and was even at her last goodbye,” she went on. “She [spent] days drying my tears.” She then admitted that she was a “little bit upset” when Camille had told her about her own decision to use the name, but stressed: “I never said anything because I don't own [it].” Wrapping up her monologue, the Reddit user said Camille has since been “posting hints on Instagram about fake friendships” and that her family and friends “haven’t stopped filling my phone with messages about how insensitive I am”. She concluded by saying she’d never intended to hurt Camille and that she “[doesn’t] know what to do anymore.” The post racked up more than 4,200 upvotes and 570 comments in just nine hours, as fellow Redditor’s defended the distressed mother-to-be. “Honestly, you cannot steal/ own a name,” wrote one supporter. “Sorry for her loss and your cousin. I think it is best to give the friendship a break while your friend handles her grief.” Agreeing, another pointed out: “First off, you’ve been planning on using the name for years. Second, nobody ‘owns’ a name. Third, you’re using it as the middle name.” However, others were less understanding. One commentator branded the original poster (OP) an “a**hole” for “not only being insensitive but also giving your unborn child the burden of living life on behalf of not one, but two dead girls”. “I would personally NOT want that to be part of the story behind MY name,” they said. A private investigator has revealed the top signs that your partner is cheating on you. Charlotte Notley, from Norwich, has spent years investigating suspicious activities, two-timing spouses, and secretive dalliances. Advising people to keep tabs on their other half, she recommends everything from checking browser satnav destinations to surprising your partner at work. Now she shares tips on how to spot a cheater, telling people to trust their guts. “Distance will be the first indicator,” the 32-year-old told NeedToKnow. “Hiding their phone and unexplained times away without much of an explanation is another sign. Check for changes in their social media- new followers and friends,” she said. “Check their browser history on shared devices. Check previous destinations on a Satnav and make a surprise visit to your partner's work or usual place they should be." “You know your partner the best, so if something feels off, then it probably is. “Most clients who come to us know there is something not right and they usually are correct. “Secretive behaviour is a key indicator for any relationship as trust must always be there. “If you feel concerned, ask your partner to reassure you and your trust. “If you are still not satisfied then trust your instinct.” According to the World Population Review, approximately half of the people in married relationships cheat on their spouse. But now a new trend sees the rise of 'boy math' which is all about making of fun men's habits and hypocritical behaviours - with some mathematical references here and there. One popular example from the boy math trend includes when men like to embellish the truth about their height by saying they are 6ft tall when in reality they are actually 5'10. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also joined in with the boy math trend as the representative for New York's 14th congressional district tweeted one referring to a possible government shutdown if a funding deal isn't agreed upon by representatives before Sunday (October 1). "Boy math is needing 15 attempts to count the votes correctly to become Speaker and then shutting down the government 9 months later," AOC wrote. Fake belly buttons are being sold online in a bid to make people's legs look longer. The stick-on buttons have reportedly been created to boost people’s confidence. The stickers are intended to be stuck on your stomach, a few centimetres above your real belly button. The real one should then be covered with a skirt of jeans, in order to make the torso seem shorter, and the legs longer. The curious beauty product can be bought on multiple websites, including eBay, where you can buy a pack of 10 sheets for £3.85. The listing appears as: "Realistic simulation belly button for woman girl summer party." The condition is described as new, with sixteen belly button stickers that can be seen per sheet. The idea is popular in China – but now they are being sold to buyers in the UK. In a viral TikTok video, user ShiYiTongYa told viewers: "It's quite natural and I think it looks better than my real belly button. In normal situations, no one's going to come up to me, scrutinise my belly, and figure out if my belly button's real." Donald Trump was branded “Donald Duck” for skipping the second 2024 US presidential debate and people had mixed reactions. Trump, the clear frontrunner for the Republican nomination, missed the Fox Business debate in California to go to the key state of Michigan to deliver a speech amid the backdrop of a car manufacturer’s strike. And so former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who is critical of Trump, came out swinging. He said the former president “hides behind the walls of his golf clubs and won’t show up here to answer questions like all the rest of us are up here to answer.” Addressing the former president directly, Christie said: “Donald, I know you’re watching. You can’t help yourself. “You’re ducking these things. And let me tell you what’s going to happen. Channel 4’s much-discussed television show Naked Attraction returned to our screens provoking somewhat of a large talking point after a contestant is labelled “dangerous”. The rather unique TV programme sees contestants baring all in the hopes of being chosen by the person looking for love. In the first show of the new series, one man certainly made an impression after users commented on how very well-endowed he was. 36-year-old Darryl was on the show hoping to be chosen by Sarah, a trans woman who previously appeared on the show pre-transition. An Australian man has been exposed for faking his own kidnapping as an extreme excuse to cheat on his girlfriend. Paul Iera from New South Wales almost faced jail for his lies after sending a text message to his then-partner saying he was being held hostage by "unknown Middle Eastern males" over a $7,000 dirt bike. The text read: "Thank you for sending Paul to me, now payback is a b**** bye bye." It continued: "But I'm going to be fare [sic] OK, we will keep him with us until the morning wen [sic] he gives us his bike we call it square, no one's touching him my word I'll give you hun OK." Like most concerned people, Iera's partner called the police, who launched a "high-risk vehicle stop" and spent 200 hours trying to locate the man. They later found him in his own vehicle and obtained footage of him with a sex worker. According to 9 News, Magistrate Michael Ong said: "You chose to send alarming, frightening messages to your partner so you could get some extra time with another partner. "You thought that would be a great way to do it. Any reasonable person would have gone to the police and that is exactly what happened." "You are at a point where you need to make a choice. You either take a step back, look at yourself and your circumstances and move towards furthering yourself, or alternatively you will move into a situation where imprisonment will be a very realistic option." Iera was fined AU $16,000 (£8,400) for wasting police time and an additional AU $550 (£280) for firearm offences. He was also reportedly sentenced to a concurrent 18-month Community Correction Order (CCO) for possessing an unauthorised firearm, possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit and possessing ammunition without a licence.
