NPC streaming is where the streamers appear animated through their actions, hence being comparable to gaming NPCs, where they often repeat their movements or sayings. For instance, a viewer sends an ice cream and in response, the streamer's reaction would be to pretend to lick it and say “Oh ice cream yum”. Where did this trend begin? Last year, NPC streaming began to rise in popularity, according to Know Your Meme where it all started from Japanese TikToker @natuecoco. She has collaborated with TikToker Satoyu0704 the two of them pretended to be NPCs as they went on to see who could get the most prizes. Over the past year more creators such as Cherry Crush TV and PinkDollReal have been doing popular NPC live streams. Why is this a trend? Perhaps, the reason for the rising popularity of NPC streaming is people's curiosity to see the creator acting like an AI or a character for a video game and want to see if they can keep this act up. Also compared to your average stream, NPC streaming requires increased interaction from the viewer as the streamer is constantly responding to what is being said and sent to them. The trend appears to have celebrity fans, with music producer Timberland reportedly being the #1 viewer on a recent TikTok Live from 19-year-old viral content creator Pinkydoll, according to Pop Crave. Pinkydoll has recently been going viral in July 2023 with her NPC streams where she does things such as popping popcorn with a hair straightener. An American man has opened up about the online trolling he has faced after people claimed his wife was too “hot” for him. Scott and Divine met in 2017 on Facebook after Divine, who is from the Philippines, messaged Scott, from Houston, Texas, thinking he was somebody else. A long-distance relationship blossomed and the pair have now gotten married and live together in the US. In 2021, the pair started a joint TikTok account but have since been on the receiving end of some nasty comments. Some people have suggested that Divine only married Scott to get a visa to live in America or because he must be “rich”. In a YouTube video made by Truly, the couple opened up about some of the hurtful comments they’ve faced including ones such as, “she’s just here for her green card”. British actor Tom Holland, best known for his role of Spider-Man in the MCU, is facing homophobic backlash after a scene from his Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room, went viral. The scene from Episode 8 “Reunion” depicts Holland receiving anal sex from another man that he meets up with in a gay nightclub bathroom. Gordon Ramsay is known as the expletive-loving Michelin-starred chef with a hot head and an even hotter kitchen. Yet, his award-winning food has been met with pretty frosty receptions by some. One TikTok user found herself in a LinkedIn love bomb when she was approached by an unidentified MBA student shooting his shot. She shared a screenshot of the interaction, which read: "Hey Hannah–skipping the line on a dating app and coming straight to you." "Aggressive move, [I know, I know.] Life’s too short not to go for what I am highly interested in," he continued, before softening the blow with an ever so slightly shift to a professional tone: "Happy to connect regardless of your openness to meet. She and her now-husband briefly dated in her earlier years, before losing contact, moving to different states and marrying other people. Twenty years later, Shelley noticed he had moved to Denver, where her parents live. "I mentioned to my mom that John was living in Denver and she encouraged me to reach out," she explained. The desire for love can have no boundaries, and people are more willing to take risks, according to Clarissa Silva, Behavioural Scientist, Relationship Coach, and Creator of Your Happiness Hypothesis Method. "All social media platforms eventually become dating platforms," Clarissa told Indy100. "LinkedIn is no exception. It's solving for our desire to find love when other options have failed." However, Clarissa explained that shopping on LinkedIn for a partner based on career may not yield the result you are looking for and you can soon become the topic of their network's conversation. "If you are using LinkedIn because other dating sites failed you, then you might want to reconsider your strategy and freshen up your profile," she continued. "Adding an additional platform to your search strategy also increases your rejection and ghosting rates which can have an adverse effect on your self-esteem." Meanwhile, Stacy Thomson, mental health clinician and performance coach behind the dating app Reddi, believes approaching people on LinkedIn for love is a "big no, no." "It’s a protected professional space, and people should feel safe," Stacy told Indy100. "However, LinkedIn is the perfect place for building relationships with strangers, and networking. This opens the door for the potential development of romance should two people become attracted to one another." "I guess, LinkedIn provides the opportunity to meet people who are similar to you professionally, and also maybe personally who you may not bump into outside of work." We've got to also consider the the power dynamic on the platform, especially when people are connecting over business or future job prospects. In some instances, this could lead to people using "'work' as a smokescreen when they have different intentions" Jordan Dixon, clinical psychosexual and relationship psychotherapist suggested. An example given by Jordan was someone setting up a business meeting with a hidden romantic interest – which would inevitably bring up ethical questions. "However, for some it might be the case that people may start speaking to one another about work and then attraction may fruition from these interactions and this can be very positive," Jordan continued. "We all know that many relationships can be first formed through our work and many people can find career success very sexy, and LinkedIn can potentially feel like a bit of a sexy taboo thing for some because its not so explicit and can be a turn on for some." Millions of people believe they’ve witnessed a real-life “glitch in the Matrix” after a woman was caught on camera apparently “frozen in time”. In the brief video, which was shared to TikTok last week, the unidentified pedestrian could be seen walking along a residential street – except that she wasn’t. At least, not for a few seconds, that is. Despite clearly being mid-stride, the woman was still as a statue, with even her long, blond ponytail apparently paused in mid-air. “Why is she frozen?” the voice of the dumbfounded man filming the scene can be heard saying. President Joe Biden has received criticism for an interaction with a young girl at Helsinki Airport that some have branded as “odd”. The President was leaving Helsinki on Friday (14 July) but before boarding Air-Force One, he met with embassy staff and their families. A clip captured by Fox shows Biden interacting with a mother and her young daughter. The President is seen trying to mess around and make the young girl laugh by pretending to bite her and placing his mouth on her shoulder. Others say the President also sniffed the girls hair, whilst some claim he tried to kiss the girl’s cheek. The girl’s mother appears to find the funny side but the child attempts to wriggle away from the President whilst the mother takes a selfie with Biden. Earlier this month a digitally altered video of Biden seemingly sniffing a baby garnered a lot of attention, and it was quickly clarified. Taylor Swift fans have been left shocked after a conspiracy theorist on TikTok claimed the singer is “sadistic”, “satanic” and ‘harvests energy’ at her concerts in a bizarre clip. Laura Renaud posted a TikTok earlier this month voicing her thoughts on the multi-Grammy winner artist, after another user asked her thoughts on Swift’s Karma music video off of her album Midnights. The TikTok starts with Renaud saying “here’s why I do not f*** with Taylor Swift,” as she proceeds to explain her conspiracy theory to relates to her broader belief that “the world is run by shapeshifting psychopaths”. The latter is a commonly believed amongst conspiracy theorists with links to anti-semitism and anti-Semitic tropes. Renaud goes on to say “I am a ‘conspiracy theorist’, even though these are no conspiracies anymore people. So you have all of these young girls looking up to her … this is all part of the f***ing hoax.” The Weeknd, Beyonce, and “all the rap” include other artists and music genres that Renaud said she wouldn’t listen to, claiming they too are attempting harvest energy and program fan’s minds. She goes on to ask fans of Swift to “just open your eyes a little bit.” “We are praising people who are praising dark forces, who are keeping people plugged into the illusion,” she says before the TikTok ends. Whilst some in the comments agreed with Renaud saying “glad I’m not the only one”, and “very well said”, the majority were shocked at Renaud’s outlandish beliefs. Many of the comments were in disbelief over Renaud’s genuine faith in the theory saying they were “confused” and that the theory was “strange”. Johnny Somali, the controversial Kick streamer known for harassing locals in Japan, was confronted by an American who was tired of Somali’s behaviour. The streamer is currently staying in Japan and often receives criticism for his provoking behaviour towards locals. Earlier in the year, Somali was condemned after being witnessed making racist remarks to passengers onboard a subway train in Japan. He ranted about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and suggested he would drop atomic bombs on the Japanese cities again. He shouted that America would “destroy” Japan again because “you don’t know how to behave”. As a result of his offensive behaviour, Somali has been confronted multiple times by locals during his live streams. Do you know how many people died from Hiroshima, and you’re joking about that s***?” The streamer said that he was drunk during that incident and that he’d apologised, but the American didn’t stop there and the confrontation continued. “All these families suffered, people suggested because of that. You’re on the train harassing people like that… don’t do it again, bro. I’ve seen how people in Tokyo whoop your a**. A woman has sparked debate after discussing the need for employers to accommodate those with “time blindness” in the workplace in a viral TikTok. TikToker Sarah Trefren made the comments about workers' rights in a video that has been viewed more than 1.5 million times since it was posted one day ago. In the video, Trefren explained that she was “yelled at” for asking someone a question about accommodations for people with difficulties related to time management. Hardest Geezer has shared an update while running the entire length of Africa, revealing that he’s facing a long delay after being robbed at gunpoint. The YouTuber, real name Russ Cook, is attempting to become the first person ever to complete the feat as part of “Project Africa” for charity. However, Cook and his team are facing “frustrating circumstances” while the group has to wait to get new visas. On the 64th day of his journey, he revealed he and his crew had been robbed at gunpoint by two “desperate” men. We were in Luanda for six days trying to get the new visa, sweet talking every man and his dog. It’s been nearly a month since the Titan submarine tragically imploded on its descent down to the wreck of the Titanic, but social media’s morbid fascination with the event does not seem to have faded. A video outlining how the submersible imploded has gone viral, wracking up more than 10 million views since it was posted on YouTube at the start of July. The explainer goes into detail about how implosions differ from explosions, and what the disaster would have looked like. Titan began its journey towards the wreck of the cruise liner on June 18. Shortly after, it lost contact with people on the surface. The US Coast Guard later revealed the vessel had suffered a “catastrophic implosion”, after deep-sea robots found debris on 22 June. Officials later said “presumed human remains” were recovered from the site. The narrator explains that in the Titan’s case, the implosion was caused by “high hydro-static pressure of the surrounding water, which happened within a fraction of a millisecond”. “At the depth the Titanic rests, there is around 5,600 pounds-per-square inch of pressure. That’s almost 400 times the pressure we experience on the surface. “As the submersible is deep in the ocean it experiences the force on its surface due to the water pressure. When this force becomes larger than the force [the] hull can withstand, the vessel implodes violently.” The animation shows the submersible suddenly bucking under the pressure, noting that the debris was found just 1,600 feet from the Titanic wreck, in five different parts. It said that a possible design flaw with the Titan was that it used “mostly carbon fibres, which have the advantage of being lighter than titanium or steel”. However, it added: “The properties of carbon fibres for deep sea applications are however not that well understood.
