Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje will clash to crown a new ‘BMF’ champion at UFC 291, in what could be the fight of the year. Five years after Poirier stopped Gaethje in a thrilling bout, the Americans will square off again, with the vacant ‘baddest motherf*****’ belt on the line in Utah. Since their first in-ring meeting, the lightweights have lost two undisputed-title fights each, but both men have crafted impressive resumes nonetheless. And Poirier, 34, and Gaethje, also 34, will look to bolster those resumes here, as they fight for the BMF title, which has only been on the line once before. In 2019, the now-retired Jorge Masvidal beat Nate Diaz to become the inaugural champion. In the co-main event this weekend, former light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz welcomes Alex Pereira to the division, in the latter’s first fight since losing the middleweight belt in April. A new art exhibition that has been made to look like a beauty salon where viewers are invited to look at works while sitting on salon chairs is set to open in Edinburgh. American artist Christian Noelle Charles launches the show on Friday at Edinburgh Printmakers. What A Feeling Act 1 will run until September 17. Artworks are in place of salon mirrors, and a radio will play excerpts of conversations with the artist. Ms Charles said she wanted to create a place of “relaxation and security” and a “new way of seeing”. She said: “I grew up going to beauty salons. I have always got my hair done since I was a kid. And I wanted to create a place of relaxation, security, that sense of getting ready is like the whole social aspect of it. “Creating these types of sets and installations change the perception of how people should look at art and also just feel relaxed in the space instead of analysing it too much.” Ms Charles composed a series of screenprints that explore and convey the gestures of being judged, analysed, and satisfied within a format of salon. Some examples of these gestures are hand crossing, lowering the glasses and tapping of the fingers. Ms Charles added: “As a black American, I was raised through the sense of gathering where barbershops and beauty salons were a centre of community and neighbourhood. “I feel like it is a good hybrid place to meet different cultures. In terms of black community in the African diaspora, salons were places of gathering that would do beauty or nails and was essential in terms of understanding one another, making sure that we look our best and what our culture represents from that. “Also, the idea of the beauty salon was a younger and modern take on that sense of the salon when it comes to showcasing paintings or prints in a specific way. It’s a pun on ‘The Salon’ within a beauty salon. “Since the work that I’ve been doing has been focused on getting ready and beauty and the essence of black women and how hard they work.” Ms Charles currently lives in Glasgow after studying for a masters degree at Glasgow School of Art. Leaked footage has revealed a US remake of Only Fools and Horses was in the works and it was absolutely terrible. Only Fools and Horses is arguably one of the most iconic sitcoms to have ever appeared on British television after its 1981 pilot. At its peak, the show drew millions of viewers and smashed TV rating records at the time, with the characters Del Boy and Rodney becoming a part of British comedy culture. Now, it appears America was trying to replicate some of that success on the other side of the Atlantic by attempting to adapt the show into a US version in 2012. Bar a few exceptions, US remakes have historically done horribly and it seems Only Fools and Horses, renamed Kings of Van Nuys, was no different. TV network ABC commissioned two separate pilots and decided to pass on picking up either of them. And, judging by footage leaked online, it’s not hard to see why. A clip was shared online by comedian Tom Mayhew, who wrote: “In 2012, a US remake of Only Fools and Horses was produced. It has recently leaked online. “This is a Trigger warning, for nothing I can say will adequately prepare you for what they did to the beloved British character.” “I've seen hostage tapes that are funnier,” one viewer remarked. Another wrote: “‘US remake of only fools and horses’ instilled in me a deep visceral fear.” “Might have ruined my week, definitely my day,” said someone else. Mayhew elaborated further on his disgust in a YouTube video, in which he explained: “I feel the problems with this adaptation can be summed up in a few sentences. One, I feel like they've missed the whole underclass, working-class aspect of it and just gone, ‘Oh, wouldn't it be funny to do a show about a dodgy Wheeler Dealer and to put them in these crazy situations’. “And they've completely missed one of the great things about the show, was the fact it did show but like a normal family in relatively normal situations and that's why people loved it. “Two they've missed the drama.
