To say the online coach industry is having a moment is an understatement given its continued popularity since the spike in searches during the pandemic. The sudden move to online completely transformed the way we live, from shopping to communicating with friends and family, to the hospitality sector and education. It didn't take long for qualified professionals to re-package their services to meet society's requirements, and while online coaching was by no means a new concept, the unpredictability of daily restrictions forced many to take the leap. This was mostly because they had no other option due to the inaccessibility of in-person meets. Many people believed online coaches would be a temporary novelty – similar to banana bread's 15 minutes of fame – but, they are seemingly here to stay and flourishing in their own right. From spiritual and career guidance to mental health and relationships, every corner of the online coach sphere is seemingly covered. But, arguably one of the most popular remains to be online personal trainers. Kim Weston, 26, remains one of the highly-regarded online coaches on social media, having helped over 500 women achieve their desired results. One client called Kim's coaching "one of the best decisions they ever made" when they fell ill with Covid. "Being able to message you for everything – whether it is to help with a workout, general advice, or even to tell you how I've felt – you've picked me up," they wrote, adding that they "couldn't be happier with the plan." Another gushed about how Kim had helped them gain confidence and "love the skin they're in, which I never thought was possible." Kim's coaching, soon to be rebranded to The New You Movement, catapulted to success when she kickstarted her online journey in April 2020. Currently known as Kim Weston Fit, the rebrand epitomises everything Kim stands for to "create a healthier, happier & better version of yourself." "I want to help women understand that it is possible to have a social life and sustainably achieve their fitness goals," she told indy100. Kim believes the online shift is here to stay, as she suggests "online clients get much better results," which people have learned for themselves. Kim finds it offers more flexibility to all, with a catalogue of workouts, nutrition advice, meal plans and much more all under one app. She also delivers advice and conducts weekly check-ins with all her clients taking part in her one-to-one programme. Kim, who spent years as a personal trainer in the UK before relocating to Dubai, finds that people tend to ask more questions and are more accountable during their online coaching programme. While Kim believes that in-person training is "essential" for gym newbies to learn the ropes and become familiar with gym equipment, she also feels it can sometimes result in the client becoming "reliant on a personal trainer to push them through the session." Not to mention, physical PTs are often much more expensive – especially several times a week. Instead, "online coaching teaches self-motivation, use of equipment and understanding towards fitness by doing it all themselves," she continued. "They are given the necessary tools but have to find the drive in them to do it themselves." Online coaches are seemingly having a social media boom, with the masses taking over social media with savvy content. Kim advises those looking for a coach to seek someone "who has a lifestyle they want to live." "If they want to be a bodybuilder or someone who competes a lot they will get a restrictive and firm trainer," she explains. "If they want to enjoy life and don’t want to give up their social life, they should find someone who is enjoying that whilst training alongside." Online coaching brings a lot of personal responsibility too, as for Kim, it's important that clients feel comfortable talking about anything. She also encourages women to go with female trainers, as they understand "how women’s bodies work," and helps tailor workouts and check-ins around PMS symptoms and cycles. "There will be a lot of things in life that come and can affect your training and you need to be able to open up to your coach about this to ensure they understand why in particular you may not have been able to follow something that week," she says. "It can be difficult to stay motivated 24/7 and if you can tell your trainer when you’re feeling low they can be there to pick you up." It’s amazing what grown adults will do for a bit of attention on social media – not least, an influencer who claimed to have got her boyfriend’s name tattooed across her forehead. Now, it has emerged it was all fake. Ana Stanskovsky posted a video last week in which a tattoo artist appeared to have inked her face with the name Kevin. Even then, commenters did not believe it was real, but Stanskovsky said: “Yes, it’s real. I can’t even believe it myself that I did it.” “I know it’s a little bit crazy. But I like to express my feelings, and I think if you really love someone you should be able to show it off.” She said that everyone on social media telling her it isn’t real was leaving her “sick and tired”. “I don’t know why people think getting such a big tattoo on your forehead is a big deal...You can still find a job and stuff.” “If we break up, I will just have to find myself a different Kevin.” But a week later, to the shock of very few people, she revealed the tattoo isn’t real.. Stanskovsky, who has a number of tattoos all across her body, posted a video on social media where she wiped off the word from her forehead. @anastanskovsky My new face tattoo ❤️ She said: “All I want to say is that I regret my tattoo...but not this one.” “Because this is not actually a real tattoo. “And the reason why I tricked the whole internet is that I have a message to young people and all of the people who want to get covered in tattoos. “I want everyone to know that I regret my tattoos and you might regret yours when you get older. “And as a person fully covered in tattoos, I feel like this is my responsibility to speak up, share my experience, and when people see me on social media the first thing they notice about me is my tattoos. “So if I influence people, I want to influence people in the right way.” However, for one commenter, it appears it was too late. Manchester United and England great Sir Bobby Charlton has died aged 86, his family have announced in a statement. Charlton was a key member of England’s victorious 1966 World Cup team and also enjoyed great success at club level with United, who became the first English club to win the European Cup in 1968. A statement on behalf of the Charlton family said: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Sir Bobby passed peacefully in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was surrounded by his family.” The statement added: “His family would like to pass on their thanks to everyone who has contributed to his care and for the many people who have loved and supported him. “We would request that the family’s privacy be respected at this time.” Charlton’s European Cup success at United came 10 years after the Munich air disaster, which he and team manager Sir Matt Busby survived but which claimed the lives of eight of Charlton’s team-mates. Born in Ashington on October 11 1937, Charlton played in the World Cup final alongside his brother Jack, who died aged 85 in 2020, and won 106 caps for England, scoring 49 goals. He made his debut for United in 1956 and went on to play 758 matches for the Red Devils, scoring 249 goals. Both were long-standing club records until they were overtaken by Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney respectively. Charlton won three league three titles and one FA Cup at Old Trafford and, after leaving United in 1973 and becoming Preston manager, he returned to Old Trafford 11 years later as a club director. The announcement came two days after his United and England team-mate Nobby Stiles died following his own battle with the illness. The Telegraph said that Charlton’s wife, Lady Norma, was happy for his condition to be reported. Paying tribute to Charlton, the Premier League said on X, formerly known as Twitter: “The Premier League is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, one of the greatest players in English football history. “Our thoughts and sincere condolences go to Sir Bobby’s family and friends, and to all at Manchester United.” Charlton made his England debut against Scotland at Hampden Park in April 1958, just over two months after he had survived the Munich air disaster. He was not selected for England’s 1958 World Cup squad that summer, but played at the tournament in 1962, 1966 and 1970. Charlton scored three times at the 1966 World Cup, including both goals in the 2-1 semi-final victory over Portugal, and ended his England career at the age of 32 following the quarter-final exit to West Germany in 1970. “It is with a heavy heart that we have learned of the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton,” the official England account tweeted. “An integral part of our 1966 FIFA World Cup winning campaign, Sir Bobby won 106 caps and scored 49 times for the #ThreeLions. “A true legend of our game. We will never forget you, Sir Bobby.” England manager Gareth Southgate added: “One of our most iconic players, Sir Bobby Charlton’s impact on our only World Cup triumph is there for all to see. “The privilege of meeting him on several occasions allowed me to understand his personal pride and emotion in having represented England and simply confirmed in my mind his standing as one of the gentlemen of the game. “The world of football will unite in its sadness at losing an undisputed legend.” Charlton’s death means Sir Geoff Hurst is the only survivor from England’s 1966 World Cup final win over West Germany. Hurst, who hit a hat-trick in the 4-2 Wembley victory, said: “Very sad news today 1 of the true Greats Sir Bobby Charlton has passed away. We will never forget him & nor will all of football. “A great colleague & friend he will be sorely missed by all of the country beyond sport alone. Condolences to his family & friends from Geoff and Judith.” In its own tribute, UEFA added: “On behalf of the entire European football community, we are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, one of the game’s true greats. Prime minister Rishi Sunak saw his team Southampton relegated from the Premier League on Saturday afternoon following a 2-0 defeat at home at the hands of Fulham. Sunak was in attendance at St Mary's to see the Saints slide out of the division following goals by Carlos Vinicius and Alexsandar Mitrovic to compound a miserable season for the south coast side. However, Sunak saw himself catching strays from the Fulham Twitter account who took a pop at the leader of the Conservative party with a reference to one of the West London club's most famous supporters.
