iShowSpeed ends stream after accidentally flashing camera
iShowSpeed ended a recent stream suddenly after accidentally exposing himself to fans live on air. The hugely popular figure was broadcasting to 24,000 people when he accidentally flashed the camera, looking shocked after realising what he’d done instantly. The streamer stood up, showing his crotch, not realising that his penis was exposed. “Oh my god,” he said, before immediately ending the stream. The moment sparked a big reaction on social media and became an instant meme. Some have speculated that the YouTuber could have his account banned for the incident, with the platform’s policies prohibiting content that includes “the depiction of clothed or unclothed genitals, breasts, or buttocks that are meant for sexual gratification”. It comes after iShowSpeed has opened up about the health crisis that saw him rushed to hospital, saying that he “almost died”. The influencer was in hospital for weeks after being taken to a Japanese hospital in July for a sinus infection which caused a "deadly headache”. The influencer, real name Darren Watkins Jr, previously posted footage of himself with one eye closed and the other severely swollen. His followers have been showing support for the 18-year-old, with fans previously arriving outside of his hospital in Tokyo. Khloe Kardashian defended after trolls 'body shaming' new bikini pics
Fans of Khloe Kardashian have defended the reality star against trolls “body shaming” her over a new bikini pic. Kardashian shared an image with her 309 million Instagram followers. It showed her in a gold bikini with the image taken from her behind her, revealing her bottom. She was captured on a beach with the waves and blue sky ahead of her. The picture was taken as part of an advertising campaign for her own Good American apparel brand which recently partnered with the brand Body Glove on a new swimwear range. In another picture, the reality star posed laying on top of a surfboard and in a clip, she emerged from a swimming pool wearing the same gold bikini. But, it was the image baring her bottom that caught the eye as some Instagram users launched nasty comments at the star. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter One Instagram user asked, “What’s with the weird vein on your tush?!” leading to a whole host of others making unsolicited comments about Kardashian’s appearance. Another fan hit back: “What vein? Even if there was a vein, which there isn’t. What’s wrong with a vein? Since when do we control or tell veins in our body where to go and not to go?” Others also came to the defence of the star, with someone asking “What’s with the body shaming?” Kardashian has been known to hit back at trolls who have commented on her social media posts, previously giving the best one-world response to someone who asked, “Do you miss your old face?”. Millie Bobby Brown’s new book restarts online debate over ghostwriters
Millie Bobby Brown’s new book restarts online debate over ghostwriters
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has come under fire for her novel, Nineteen Steps, after working with a ghostwriter on the book. The novel was inspired by Brown’s grandmother’s experience of the 1943 Bethnal Green tube disaster, and was ghostwritten by Kathleen McGurl. Only Brown’s name is on the cover of the book, prompting social media users to criticise Brown after the book’s release. One X/Twitter user said: “You should be ashamed. “Ghostwritten celebrity novels have ruined children’s literature and now they’re doing the same thing to adult fiction.” When Nineteen Steps was published earlier this month, Brown posted a photo on Instagram of herself standing next to McGurl. The caption reads: “I couldn’t have done this without you!” Nonetheless, that has done little to silence her critics. One person wrote on Instagram: “So you can become an author and not actually write it yourself these days. What’s the point?” Another said: “You mean she wrote it for you and you’re taking the credit.” Others jumped to the 19-year-old’s aid, pointing out that scores of celebrities have faced criticism for using ghostwriters in the past. Media personality Zoella (real name Zoë Sugg) was slammed for doing the same thing with her memoir Girl Online in 2014. Katie Price and Naomi Campbell have also used ghostwriters for fiction books released under their name. And more recently, Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, was written by JR Moehringer. That book broke the record for the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time, with 1.43m copies sold on its first day. One commenter wrote on Instagram: “This author will be paid a s***tone more because Millie’s name is on it. “Ghostwriting is not new, and by sharing this post she is literally acknowledging the author, whose name will also be in the book. “The author will be very happy, and Millie supplied the whole story and all her family’s research. Everyone seriously needs to get off their high horse.” In a March blog post, McGurl said she was sent “a lot of research that had already been pulled together by Millie and her family, and plenty of ideas”. McGurl then interviewed Brown several times over Zoom before she wrote the first draft, she said. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
