It's Real! Lenovo Legion Go Gaming Handheld Images Leak

Leaked "official" images confirm the rumor that Lenovo is working on a gaming handheld to compete with Steam Deck and Rog Ally, while also revealing it copies a major design feature used by the Switch.

The images of the Lenovo Legion Go were uncovered by Windows Report, and they show a portable gaming device that seems to cherry-pick the best features of other handhelds on the market today.

The display is thought to be 8-inches, the button placement matches that of Asus' Rog Ally, and there's a trackpad similar to the ones found on a Steam Deck. The most surprising feature, however, is obviously taken from the Nintendo Switch—Lenovo decided to use detachable "joy-cons." With that being the case, it's safe to assume the display is a touchscreen.

On the rear of the Legion Go are a couple of shoulder buttons, back triggers, side triggers, and a wheel. There's also a rather large cooling vent, which if the rumors are right, is required for cooling an AMD Phoenix processor that will be at the heart of the handheld running a version of Windows 11.

As for I/O, the images reveal two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, volume buttons, a power button, and a micro SD card slot for storage expansion.

The Legion Go is sure to stand out from the crowd with its larger screen and Switch-like detachable controllers. Running Windows 11 also means it won't be limited on which PC games can be played beyond what the hardware can handle. And ultimately that's what the success of this handheld will come down to—how good the hardware is combined with how aggressive Lenovo decides to be on pricing.
