Valorant Deadlock Abilities Explained

Valorant's new Agent, Deadlock, is coming in Episode 7 Act I with some broken abilities.

Riot Games began teasing the latest Sentinel at the beginning of June. Anna Donlon, the Executive Producer of Valorant, promised the Agent could "stop you dead in your tracks and pull you in for a closer look." Deadlock, it seems, can do much more than just hinder your movement.

Here's a breakdown of Deadlock's abilities, including her unstoppable ultimate.

Valorant Deadlock Abilities Explained

GravNet (C)

A GravNet grenade will detonate upon landing and force any nearby opponents to crouch and move slowly. Players can throw the grenade or lob it underhand to perfect the net's placement. Teams can choose between hunting the easy kills or using the trap to gain enough time to rotate or claim a site.

Sonic Sensor (Q)

The Sonic Sensor will concuss an area if it detects any enemy sounds, like footsteps and weapon fire. The sensor will not only provide key intel regarding enemy locations, but it will also slow down any quick pushes. Enemies will have to be more cautious of setting off the ability in close rounds.

Barrier Mesh (E)

When a player throws a Barrier Mesh disc, the disc generates barriers that block player movement. Enemies caught in the Barrier Mesh will not be able to move outside of the four walls that spawn from a center origin point. Once again, the ability is perfect for slowing down enemies and obtaining their exact position on the map.

Annihilation (X)

Annihilation is aptly named for Deadlock's ultimate. When fired, Annihilation will unleash nanowires that capture and cocoon the first enemy it reaches. The trapped enemy will be pulled closer along a nanowire path and will automatically die of they reach the end.

The ultimate was met with some harsh community feedback. Even though the cocoon can be destroyed by a teammate, the ability gives Deadlock an unstoppable advantage in 1v1s. If Annihilation is activated and the enemy has no teammate to free them from the trap, then Deadlock wins the round without any available counter.

Stay tuned for more Deadlock gameplay when Valorant Episode 7 Act I drops tomorrow, June 27.
