Jake Paul tries to prank call Nate Diaz's team ahead of match: 'Didn't work at all'

CLEVELAND, OHIO: Jake Paul is back with his pre-fight shenanigans as he gears up for his match against Nate Diaz. Prior to a bout, the former YouTuber, who is now a professional boxer, frequently tries to influence his opponent's thoughts. So it's not shocking that he made an effort to communicate with Nate Diaz's camp before their forthcoming boxing battle.

Recently, Jake Paul tried to play a practical joke on Nate Diaz's colleague and coach, Chris Avila. Jake Paul has a tendency of calling his opponents' teammates before many of his matches. At first, Paul pretended to be an ESPN reporter wanting an interview with Avila. Following the failure of that attempt, the Problem Child contacted the coach, pretending to be Nate Diaz, and made up an intriguing tale.

‘It didn't work at all, but we tried our best’

Notably, both efforts were unsuccessful since Avila abruptly hung up after detecting the call was a hoax. Paul recently spoke with InsideFighting about the upcoming fight and his failed attempt to tease team Diaz. Explaining the outcome of the prank, he said, "Yeah, they knew, they knew. They were onto us, like, immediately. It didn't work at all, but we tried our best," Paul said.

On August 5, 2023, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, Jake Paul and Nate Diaz will square off in a boxing match. Paul has a 6-1 pro boxing record, whilst Diaz has not yet had a professional boxing fight. However, he is a far more skilled fighter with a pro-MMA record of 21-13. He has defeated several major UFC stars, both past and present, including Conor McGregor, Tony Ferguson, Anthony Pettis, and Donald Cerrone.
