Kai Cenat: Twitch king reveals why people thought he was getting banned from purple platform 'left and right'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kai Cenat is undoubtedly one of the most loved streamers who has garnered a massive follower count on social media. In addition to creating entertaining streams, Cenat has become an icon for his fans. Recently, he shared insights about his experiences as a content creator and highlighted his efforts to promote diversity within the streaming community as a young African-American streamer.

In an Interview by Complex, the 21-year-old, who was banned multiple times from the purple platform despite his successful career, was asked about the variances of the difficulties and experiences he has had as a Black streamer as compared to those that most White streamers face. Let's explore what Cenat said.

'It was a weird type of vibe'

Kai Cenat said that Twitch used to ban him frequently during his early days, and many of his fans believed it was due to racial prejudice. During the interview, he laid emphasis on this thought and said, ''When I was coming up, I used to get banned like crazy and people used to think it was due to race. Everybody used to get banned left and right, but when a person who wasn’t Black would do it, they wouldn't get banned. So it was a weird type of vibe."

Cenat stands as one of the most recognized streamers on the purple platform. His initiatives have garnered a lot of attention for the platform's lack of diversity. However, it's important to acknowledge that White streamers continue to dominate Twitch. Cenat talked about this when he was questioned about if he was going to create any change.

'The diversity is not too crazy'

Being a Twitch king at a young age, Cenat said he wanted to become a role model for Gen Z. He said, "In terms of bringing attention and light on it for sure. There are a couple of Black streamers, they just aren’t as big as the white streamers. The diversity is not too crazy."

He added, "But with me personally, I was bringing a crazy light to the culture by being on the platform and dominating and doing everything I had to do. Especially during Black History Month. I hit the milestone on the last day and that was like a big cultural thing." With a massive following of more than 6.15 million loyal viewers, Cenat presently ranks 27th among the most followed Twitch streamers.
