MLB Rumors: Orioles trade for IF, White Sox and Angels add depth

Despite the regular season being in full swing, there's been a decent amount of activity in the MLB rumors department. Here's a rundown of the latest moves.

The Major League Baseball trade deadline isn't for over two months, but with some teams already established as clear sellers, trade talks have happened throughout the league.

It remains unlikely that any trade of significance will happen right now, but the Kansas City Royals have received trade calls regarding reliever Aroldis Chapman, among others.

And on Thursday afternoon, the Royals traded minor-league infielder Robbie Glendinning to the Baltimore Orioles, according to sources familiar with the deal.

Glendinning, 27, has spent seven seasons in the minors, playing for both the Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates. In 535 career games, he's hitting .284/.382/.452 with 65 home runs and 325 RBI while playing shortstop and second and third bases. Glendinning, who will report to Triple-A Norfolk, will provide organizational depth in the infield.

MLB Rumors: White Sox add potential depth to bullpen

In late April, free-agent reliever Bryan Shaw signed a minor-league contract to return to the Chicago White Sox. The deal pays $950,000 if Shaw is in the majors, according to major-league sources.

Shaw, 35, has played 12 seasons in the majors, posting a 3.92 ERA and 637/278 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He was an integral part of the Cleveland Guardians' bullpen for seven years and adds experienced depth to the White Sox bullpen.

MLB Rumors: Angels pick up free agent catcher

On May 10, free-agent catcher Meibrys Viloria agreed to a minor-league contract with the Los Angeles Angels. The deal pays $750,000 if he's in the majors and contains an assignment clause for July 1 and release clause by August 15, according to a major-league source.

Viloria, 26, has spent five seasons in the majors, playing in a combined 103 games. In 280 plate appearances, he's hitting .198/.270/.279 with three home runs and 24 RBI. He provides organizational depth at catcher with the Angels.
