Spoilers for ‘Muted’ Episode 6

MADRID, SPAIN: Netflix’s thrilling Spanish miniseries ‘Muted’ has finally concluded with six episodes. The finale episode of ‘Muted’ is quite a lot to handle with the revelation about Sergio’s parent’s murder. However, the unfortunate turn in the episode is that despite Sergio trying to seek forgiveness for his actions and be with Noa, he ends up alone and ultimately kills himself. It’s surprising to see that Noa was intentionally staying away from Sergio.

‘Muted’ Episode 10 trails back to Sergio’s parent’s murder night and uncovers the entire situation step by step. Although Sergio gave a modified story to Ana, Noa arrived right on time and exposed the truth. Sergio is left shattered and heartbroken after Noa reveals that she came for her mother and not him, as she has nothing to do with him after that night. Despite Sergio’s protective intentions toward Noa, which provoked him to kill his parents, everyone abandoned him. But is this really the end of Sergio and Ana’s story?

Ana’s half-lies trigger Sergio

When Ana arrives at Sergio’s house, completely soaked in the rain, she explains the entire situation to her, not the entire but half of it. Of course, she jeopardized her investigation to help Sergio at the price of her family’s disappointments. However, she only discloses information about Noa and Blanca’s experiments, not her investigation, especially not the fact that she’s been watching her the whole time. At first, Sergio doesn’t believe her, but when she calls Noa, he gets disoriented and lashes at her. When Ana takes Sergio to the secret room, he encounters an emotional breakdown and punches the mirror from where Blanca observed her secretively. Ana comforts him, which turns into a kiss, only to be interrupted by Marta’s arrival.

Sergio learns about the cameras

Upon Marta’s arrival, she loses her mind after seeing Ana with Sergio. She blurts out the entire truth, including the investigation, cameras, and how Ana asked her to get the recordings. Sergio is fuming like he’s about to kill someone but smashes all the cameras, leaving one for Greta, Mikel, and Cabrera to watch what is happening in the house. Later, Marta’s arrival is followed by Eneko, who lashes out at Sergio, and ends up fighting, with Sergio almost kills him until Ana diverts him by calling out Noa’s name.

Sergio’s fake story is revealed as Noa finally meets him

Sergio explains a twisted story to Ana of how his parents died that night. He blamed his father and portrayed himself as an innocent who started the argument for Noa’s sake. He says that his mother started experimenting on Noa, and he didn’t want Noa to become like him, as she was the only good thing in his life. However, the truth was entirely different from this. As Noa and his adopted father watch Sergio at the investigation place, Noa decides to visit his house. Upon her arrival at his house, Sergio is emotionally happy and hugs her, but at the same time, Noa discloses exactly what happened that night. The truth being Sergio killed his parents exactly the way the police interpreted it. When Noa confirms that she has come for her mother and not him, Sergio is devastated. Though Ana is still with him despite Noa’s effort to bring her back, which she refuses as her place and soul are with him now.

Ana and Sergio - The Lost Cause

The finale of ‘Muted’ concluded with a heavy toll. The entire season revolves around Sergio’s quest to find his sister and Ana’s obsession to prove Sergio is a good person. But the end was not as we expected, at least not hinted at. After Noa leaves Sergio for good, he and Ana stay back. The look on Sergio’s face clearly indicates something bad, and that is what happens. He and Ana share a moment, and the finale ends with Sergio jumping off from the same balcony, ending his life.

‘Muted’ did a great job explaining the intensity of obsession and the length one can go to protect their loved ones. Nevertheless, the Spanish crime thriller is a perfect package of psychological kicks with twisted events, the complex nature of characters, and intense thrill.

All Episodes of ‘Muted’ are streaming on Netflix.
