WHEAT RIDGE, COLORADO: Paige Spiranac, the social media sensation who was born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, overcame a broken kneecap that ended her gymnastics dreams at 12. However, with her high spirits, she redirected her focus to golf. In September 2022, the outspoken Spiranac caused a stir with her overwhelming praise for hockey players.

She believed that in the realm of professional sports, hockey players were the ultimate party animals. Being a former golfer she gave NHL players a perfect score of 10 out of 10 for their ability to enjoy themselves and celebrate.

'They're in a league of their own'

In a Tweet posted on September 28, 2022, Spiranac said, "Hockey players are just built different. Hockey gets a 10 because these guys are absolutely insane. They will go into a game, get their two front teeth knocked out and then ... do it all over again the next day. They're in a league of their own." At the time of writing, the Tweet had nearly 6400 likes and 240 retweets.

Spiranac was responding to a remark made by golfer Kevin Kisner on her podcast after the President's Cup. Golfers, according to Kisner, are extremely skilled on the course but deficient in the party department. This led Spiranac to rank different sports according to how well they accommodate parties. Paige Spiranac disagreed jokingly with Kisner's assessments of the golf industry and rated golf professionals at a respectable 7.6 out of 10. Along with golfer Xander Schauffele, she made fun of Kisner by bringing up the famous drinking ability of John Daly, a golfing legend. She also related some of her own college party memories.

NBA players were oddly ranked last on Spiranac's list, with a meager score of 3.2 out of 10. They were mockingly referred to by Spiranac as "reformed party girls," suggesting that they had scaled back on their excessive partying and now preferred a more refined and laid-back social scene.

'NBA players just smoke weed, get the munchies, and fall asleep'

Not only Spiranac made remarks, but netizens were active enough to make their comments. A user wrote, "Couldn’t agree more Paige, us hockey guys are a different breed through and through. 😂🤣🤣. Have you ever been to a Stanley Cup party before." A second user wrote, "NBA players would be at the bottom of the scale. They just smoke weed, get the munchies, and fall asleep." A third user wrote, "So are its fans 🥨🏒." While a fourth user wrote, "We are built on mean."
