Sophie Turner fans support actor after 'reason for Joe Jonas divorce' is revealed
Amid the news of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's separation, many fans have jumped to the defence of Turner who worry she is becoming the victim of a PR "smear campaign". Separation rumours regarding the pair, who have been married for 4 years and have 2 children together, began surfacing this week after TMZ claimed to have a source saying the two were divorcing. Yesterday, according to papers obtained by the Associated Press, Jonas filed for divorce in Florida's Miami-Dad County Court on Tuesday citing their marriage being "irretrievably broken." The past weeks reports of reasons for their split were circulating, and all seemed to be in praise of Joe Jonas. On Sunday it was reported that Jonas was looking after their two children "pretty much all of the time". Yesterday it was claimed that "she likes to party, he likes to stay at home," as the reason for Jonas filing for divorce, despite previously interviews claiming the opposite. But fans have shown hesitation at the stories coming out about the couple, and believe a "smear campaign" against Turner is being purposefully pushed by framing her as a bad, inattentive mother and wife. One fan wrote "I love Joe Jonas as much as the next girlie [...] this is just a bad attempt at framing Sophie to be some careless mother and that's not it for me!!" Others said that Jonas wasn't home either due to being on tours: Whilst some say that whilst claims of him looking after his two children were supposed to paint him in a good light he is just "fulfilling his role as a father": On Wednesday the pair released a joint statement via Turner's Instagram, writing: "After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narrative as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children." Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond smile awkwardly through NTA booing
The National Television Awards returned on Tuesday (5 September) for a night filled with the best of British TV. Attention soon turned to This Morning, which was dethroned after winning daytime, live magazine or topical magazine categories every year since 2011. The audience erupted into boos when the show was announced as hosts Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond smiled on. It didn't take long for X/Twitter users to chime in with their (brutal) takes, with one writing: "It was amazing that the public showed This Morning how they felt and didn’t vote for them to win the best daytime show at the NTA’s this morning has run its course and should be scrapped." Another wrote: "Highlight of the Year - This Morning getting zilch." A third was delighted to not have to "endure Holly and Phil pretending to be drunk": Another wrote: "They lost to a programme named the Repair Shop. It’s so ironic it's hilarious." Willoughby later took to Instagram with a photo of herself with the show's host Jay Blades to congratulate his win. "To this gorgeous man @jaybladesmbe and the whole team at the @therepairshoptv … Hugest Congratulations!!! And what a night for the incredible Sarah Lancashire… @joeldommett thank you for a great night… See you in the morning," she wrote. On Wednesday's episode of This Morning, Willoughby sent her congratulations to the winners. She said: "A huge congratulations to The Repair Shop, well done you. Jay Blades, just like a special squeeze and lots of love to him. "He ran over to us, gave us all a big cuddle which I just thought was just class and gorgeous. I actually didn’t want to let go. Good hugs Jay Blades." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Chris Eubank Jr’s coach remanded in custody following airport arrest
Chris Eubank Jr’s coach has been charged following his arrest at Manchester Airport on Sunday, when a gun was found in his suitcase. Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, who guided Eubank Jr to a stoppage win over Liam Smith on Saturday, was detained by armed police after a scan of his checked-in luggage revealed the presence of a firearm and ammunition. The American, 53, was due to fly from Manchester – where Eubank Jr beat Smith at the AO Arena – to Atlanta in the United States. A statement from Greater Manchester Police on Monday read: “At around 10.45 am on Sunday 3 September 2023, officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport. After initial inspection by security staff, GMP officers attended, and the firearm was seized. Subsequently, a man has been arrested for possession of a firearm and remains in custody for further questioning.” A follow-up statement on Tuesday read: “Brian McIntyre (01/07/1970) from the United States of America was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. “McIntyre attended Stockport Magistrates court this morning where he was further remanded into custody. He is next due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday, 9 October 2023.” Greater Manchester Police confirmed to The Independent that McIntyre will remain in custody until that date, when a plea will be entered. Eubank Jr’s win against Smith, which came eight months after the latter beat Eubank Jr via TKO, marked McIntyre’s first time teaming with the Brighton middleweight. Former boxer McIntyre also coaches Terence Crawford, who is seen by many as the No 1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world. The unbeaten Crawford produced a masterclass against Errol Spence Jr in July, handing his fellow American his first professional loss to become undisputed welterweight champion. The southpaws are expected to clash again later this year or early next year, after Spence Jr triggered a rematch clause last week.
