Tyson Fury will box ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in a seismic crossover fight in Saudi Arabia in October, it has been announced. Fury, who reigns as WBC heavyweight champion, has been struggling to find an opponent for his next title defence and will stay active by boxing Ngannou, one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts, in Riyadh on 28 October. Per a press release on Tuesday (11 July), the fight will be contested “under the official rules of professional boxing, with three judges ringside adopting the 10-point must system”. “Both fighters, however, are promising to meet in the middle of the ring, go to war, and win by knockout in devastating fashion.” It was not stated that Fury’s WBC title will be on the line. Ngannou, 36, held the UFC heavyweight title between 2021 and 2022, and he retained the belt in his most recent fight – a decision win against Ciryl Gane in January last year. The Cameroonian then left the UFC earlier this year amid a pay dispute, before signing with the Professional Fighters League (PFL). As part of his deal with the MMA promotion, Ngannou is allowed to box before he makes his PFL debut in 2024. As such, the “Predator” will take on the unbeaten Fury. Ngannou is widely seen as the most devastating puncher in MMA history. His professional record stands at 17-3, with 12 of his wins having come via knockout. Of those KO victories, eight took place in Round 1 – with three having been achieved inside the first minute. Meanwhile, Fury last fought in December, beating Derek Chisora for the third time to retain the WBC heavyweight title. The Briton, 34, has since been in talks over fights with Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, with neither bout materialising. Usyk is instead set to defend his unified heavyweight titles against Daniel Dubois in August, with Joshua planning to face Dillian Whyte in August then Deontay Wilder in late 2023 or early 2024. A Russian naval officer who allegedly commanded a deadly missile strike on Ukraine has reportedly been assassinated while out jogging, after being tracked on a running app. Stanislav Rzhitskiy was found with four bullet wounds in his back near the Olimp sports complex in Krasnodar, southern Russia. Rzhitskiy was reportedly targeted for commanding a Kalibr missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia nearly a year ago which killed 28 people. Ukraine’s intelligence service, the GUR, said he was shot at 6am this morning. A spokesman did not claim responsibility for his death but added: “Due to heavy rain the park was deserted, so there are no witnesses who could provide details or recognise the attacker.” Russian police said they were searching for a man aged between 30 and 40 who had been wearing black. Investigators believe his running route was tracked through the Strava jogging app and his death was linked to the upcoming first anniversary of the Kalibr attack on July 15. A screenshot from his profile on Strava last week mapped out a 14-minute jog in the Russian city of Krasnodar. Reports say Rzhitsky was hit in the “back and chest” and died at the scene, with two 9-mm bullets found in his body. His watch and headphones were located at the scene, indicating robbery was not the motive, according to news outlet Mash. A murder investigation has been launched by Russian police. Also among the 27 killed in Vinnytsia were Kateryna Hula, 24, administrator of the Neuromed medical centre which was hit by the missile attack. Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska knew Liza, one of the three children brutally killed in the Russian strike. Other victims include Tetyana Kharchenko, 32, Evhen Kovalenko, 25, and concert organiser Viktor Polishchuk. In the immediate aftermath of the strike, Russian state TV claimed the submarine hit had been the “most productive” of the war. It said it killed Colonel Oleg Makarchuk, 48, head of the Armaments and Logistics Service of the Ukrainian Air Force, and Colonel Dmitry Burdiko, another high-ranking air force commander, as they met in the so-called House of Officers in Vinnytsia. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskysuggested the attack was deliberately aimed at civilians. Artificial intelligence has revealed what the most conventionally attractive man looks like according to the tastes of different countries. AI technology has advanced to mind-boggling capabilities, leaving many fearful for what the future may hold if it ends up in the wrong hands. But until then, others have decided to have fun with AI and use it to decipher the peak of physical attraction in men across the globe. Midjourney is a generative artificial intelligence program and it has been used to make images featuring men mostly with large muscles and chiselled jaws, representing the “Most attractive man in a country”. The reel of photos included the most attractive men in 20 different countries including, Greece, Syria, the USA and North Korea and the results were shared on the Midjourney Reddit community. Some Reddit users compared the Kazakhstani man to a “Disney adaptation villain” or a “spicy Harry Styles” as the AI version resembled some of the singer’s features such as his eyes and hair. The AI-generated American man featured shoulder-lengthed light brown and blonde hair with blue eyes, a beard and big muscles.
