Mother buys her daughter's Taylor Swift tickets then dies the night of the concert
Two sisters have taken to TikTok to talk about their mother passing whilst the two were at a Taylor Swift concert. The video features a text overlay that reads “our mom died while we were at the Taylor Swift concert” and was posted by user @lindsorito. The caption reads: “this [is] us coping”. In the TikTok clip, which currently has over 11 million views, creator Linds and her sister Morgan shared the story of being surprised with tickets to see Swift on her Reputation tour back in Christmas of 2017. However, two weeks before the sisters and their mother were supposed to attend the concert, their mother’s cancer spread to her brain and she was in hospice and unresponsive. The sisters stood by her side every day, but ultimately decided to go to the show. “We talked with out dad, and we just decided that she would still want us to go to the concert,” Linds explained, with Morgan adding that Ally, her best friend from college, took their mum’s ticket for the night. They also sadly added that a year after the concert Ally, who had attended the Reputation show with them, was murdered. The two girls then went to divulge into a “weird coincidence” between their mother and Taylor Swift. Going on to say that “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” is releasing exactly five years after their mother passed away. At the end of the video, the sister say that their dad had given them something that they couldn’t open until their Eras tour concert. In a follow-up video, the two shared that it was “a letter from my dad written to us from the perspective of my mom in heaven, sating she’s so proud of us for all the stuff we’ve done since she died and that we should have so much fun tonight.” @lindsorito update on the letter!! sorry it took a bit!! @Morgan Many viewers left their condolences and support in the comment section of the original video. Many said they were sorry for the sister’s losses, others said that their mother was “with them in spirit” at the Taylor Swift show. Have your say in our news democracy. Steve Irwin's son is dating Heath Ledger's niece
Steve Irwin's son and Heath Ledger's niece are dating and recently made their red carpet debut together as a couple. Suited and booted for the event on Monday (July 3), Robert Irwin ditched his recognisable cargo zookeeper clothes to attend the premiere of the new Mission Impossible film. Accompanying the 19-year-old was Rorie Buckey, the niece of The Dark Knight actor with her mum being the late actor's sister, Kate Ledger. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning is the latest in the action film franchise starring Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell and Simon Pegg. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Rumours of Robert and Rorie dating began back in November last year when they were pictured together on a beach in Queensland. A month later, the couple were then spotted meeting Terri Irwin (Robert's mother) and people at the family's Aussie Zoo. Also in December, Daily Mail Australia quoted her dad, Nathan Buckey, who said he "absolutely" approved of their relationship. Buckey coordinated with her date at the premiere, wearing a chic black one-shoulder dress as the couple smiled and posed for photographers in what could potentially be Australia's new power couple, being related to two of the biggest Aussie icons. Sadly, Steven Irwin passed away in 2006 aged 44 when Robert was three years old after he was stung in the chest by a stingray while filming in the Great Barrier Reef for his show Crocodile Hunter. Heath Ledger died in 2008 from an accidental overdose aged 28. His sister Kate (Rorie's mother) has previously reflected on this, telling Who magazine in 2018: "Heath is hugely important in the lives of my children. "There's not a day that goes by that we don't share stories or talk about him. He is very much alive in our house." Have your say in our news democracy. Time ran five times slower in the early universe, new study finds
New findings have revealed that time ran five times slower in the early universe, after scientists published new research into quasars. A quasar is a luminous active galactic nucleus and studying them has allowed scientists to measure time. The variation in brightness of quasars from the early universe has been measured to determine time dilation back to a billion years after the Big Bang. Experts have found that there was an era in which clocks moved five times slower than they do in the present day. The findings come as a relief to many cosmologists who have been perplexed by previous results that have come from studying quasars. The discovery that the universe is expanding led to the theorisation of “time dilation” – the idea that time moved slower the smaller the universe was. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Professor Geraint Lewis of the University of Sydney, the lead author of a new study, said in a statement: “Looking back to a time when the universe was just over a billion years old, we see time appearing to flow five times slower.” He continued, explaining: “If you were there, in this infant universe, one second would seem like one second – but from our position, more than 12 billion years into the future, that early time appears to drag.” To measure the extent of time dilation, scientists turned to quasars, as they are able to measure their change in brightness over a period they can estimate. The most distant quasar that is visible is 13 billion back in time and can still be seen despite its far distance. Their brightness varies due to turbulence and lumpiness in their accretion disks. Lewis explained the phenomenon as being “a bit like the stock market”. He said: “Over the last couple of decades, we’ve seen there is a statistical pattern to the variation, with timescales related to how bright a quasar is and the wavelength of its light.” Have your say in our news democracy. The documentary maker revealed that it was set to form part of a new show he was working on, but the plug was pulled after a member of production deemed the vessel unsafe. "I was invited", he said on This Morning. "We had dialogue with the company in order for me to go down – actually this summer."
