Tom Cruise's message for the King and the MTV awards were virtually identical
Tom Cruise was up in the skies for his coronation concert cameo, which looked awfully similar to his MTV Movie & TV award acceptance speech. While airborne and flying his Top Gun Warbird plane, the 60-year-old 'Top Gun' actor invited King Charles III to be his "wingman," in his pre-recorded video message for the new monarch. “Pilot to pilot. Your Majesty, you can be my wingman any time," Cruise said before he saluted and flew off. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter His message to King Charles was part of a number of star-studded video messages for the Coronation Concert, who included: Joan Collins, former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, Bear Grylls and Welsh singer Tom Jones. It looked remarkably similar to a video acceptance speech Cruise gave from the cockpit for the MTV Movie & TV Awards, where the actor sported the same cream-blue shirt, aviator sunglasses, green headphones and a headset. Though in this message there was the addition of a golden popcorn trophy as Cruise took home the best performance in a movie for his role in 'Top Gun: Maverick'. "Hi everyone. Thank you so much for this award. I make these sails for you. I love you. I love entertaining you," he said. "You know how much you enjoy it. How much you appreciate it. There's just no better feeling and I hope you enjoy 'Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.' Cruise added the film will be released in July and that it's a "wild ride," and signed off by saying "We'll see you at the movies" before tilting off and flying for the clouds. Concert drone show organiser describes ‘nerve-wracking but exciting’ evening
The mastermind behind the “largest ever multi-location UK drone show” said pulling off the Coronation Concert spectacle was a “nerve-wracking but exciting” experience. Patrick O’Mahony, founder and director of Skymagic, said 1,000 drones took part in the light shows over Windsor Castle, Cardiff Bay and the Eden Project in Cornwall on Sunday. The lights of the drones formed shapes celebrating the King’s love of the natural world, including a blue whale which appeared in the sky above Windsor during the concert. Artists including Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Take That performed as part of a star-studded line-up. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport hailed the “spectacular scenes”, saying it was the “largest ever multi-location UK drone show”. When US singer Perry, 38, walked out singing the opening lyrics to her hit Roar, a drone projection of a lion’s head appeared in the sky above her. And when British-Moroccan singer Zak Abel sang the Simple Minds hit Don’t You Forget About Me, a drone scene of a Prince Charles clematis flower appeared in the sky over Windsor, followed by a giant multi-coloured butterfly. Speaking on Monday, Mr O’Mahony told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It was the biggest single performance across multi sites we’ve ever done, so to try and co-ordinate it all from one central location in Windsor and trigger three shows all at the same time, all with obviously not rehearsing, giving the game away in advance, it was a quite nerve-wracking but exciting evening really.” He said they had rehearsed at a “secret location up in Yorkshire” so as not to spoil the surprise. On how many drones were involved, he said: “It was 1,000 across all three sites, so the biggest show we’ve done like that.” He said three operators were needed to run the entire fleet, one per site. Mr O’Mahony added: “Each individual drone has its own little mission loaded onto it and we have then one operator and a back-up operator who triggers that show sequence and sends the drones up. “And then in effect we, at the right, very precise time, press the ‘go’ button and each little drone then flies its own individual mission. “No one drone knows where the other drones are in the fleet so they’re not talking, they’re all individual in terms of that movement, they fly the entire routine and luckily come back home at the end of it. “When we have the final file, our pilot then uploads that to all the drones but each individual drone has its own separate file attached to it.” On whether anything went wrong, he added: “No, we had a perfect run. “The weather was great, which was always a big relief for us, and then each individual site all their fleets went up, came down and we were bang on time across locations which was really wonderful to see. “We can fly in light rain, if it was very, very heavy rain then that would stop us, the same with very high winds. But normally we can fly in most conditions.” The concert was watched by an average audience of 10.1 million, according to overnight figures from the BBC. The event was hosted by actor Hugh Bonneville and featured a cameo from The Muppet characters Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, as well as a recorded video message to Charles from Top Gun star Tom Cruise.

Debate erupts over who was hotter - young Robert De Niro or young Al Pacino
Twitter users have been known to debate all manner of topics, but the most recent viral question saw users split over who they thought was hotter – young Robert De Niro or young Al Pacino. It was a question posed by Twitter user Ashely Reese who took to the social media platform to settle a debate at a wedding she was attending. Reese probably wasn’t anticipating that the tweet would go viral, drawing 277,372 votes and over 28 million views. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter She created a poll, explaining, “At a wedding and having a big debate rn. Please vote. Who was hotter?” with the two options being the American actors “Young Al Pacino” and “Young Robert De Niro”. In the comments, people made their arguments and posted pictures to support them. Despite Reese herself arguing for young Al Pacino to take the crown, not everyone was as convinced. Someone argued: “LOVE LOVE PACINO DOWN! But Mr. Bobby D eats him up EVERY TIME. He’s actively doing it right here.” Another urged: “The only right answer.” “This is the best a man has looked,” one Twitter user wrote of young De Niro. Others, however, vehemently agreed with the OP. One person wrote: “This is the correct answer, are half of you having some kind of episode, what on Earth.” “I’m sorry but all you saying De Niro are out of your actual minds, look at this gorgeous man,” someone else argued. Another wrote: “70s Al Pacino was one of the most beautiful people to ever exist on this earth.” In the end, the two acting legends could not be separated as the poll ended with a 50/50 percentage split of the votes. So, we'll probably never know the true answer to this question. Have your say in our news democracy. Chris Tyson says that MrBeast has supported their gender for years
Chris Tyson has spoken openly about their friendship with MrBeast, saying that the YouTuber has supported their gender since college. Tyson recently made headlines for sharing their journey with hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and has been the subject of transphobic trolling online. The treatment is generally used to help a person's body align with their gender identity. MrBeast recently hit back at social media users who claimed his affiliation with the YouTuber could be detrimental to his career. Tyson has appeared in many of his videos in the past. MrBeast, real name is Jimmy Donaldson, clapped back at these suggestions on social media, writing: "Yeah, this is getting absurd. Chris isn’t my “nightmare” he’s my f***en friend and things are fine. All this transphobia is starting to p*** me off." Sign up to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter Spoke on GeorgeNotFound’s BANTER podcast, Tyson said that Donaldson had been aware of their gender identity for a long time. “I mean, Jimmy’s known it since we were in college together,” Chris said. “I accidentally walked out of a bedroom — like, my bedroom and his bedroom were apart…obviously not very cis-het-male. And I told him. I told him, I was like, ‘I don’t really know what it is. I don’t know if I’m ever gonna be ready to like, deal with it.'” “And he was like, ‘Oh yeah, you know, I don’t care. Just whenever it becomes a thing, just let me know.’ And then for like, seven years, or however many years, I just didn’t let him know.” In April, Tyson tweeted: "Informed consent HRT saved my and many others' lives. The hurdles gnc people have to jump through to get life-saving gender-affirming healthcare in a 1st world country is wild to me. Just let people make informed decisions about their own bodies". Despite the fact that MrBeast has been vocal in supporting Tyson, rumours had previously begun spreading online that Tyson had been dropped from MrBeast’s team after they didn’t appear in his recent video filmed in Japan. Responding to fan questions on a Snapchat stream, Tyson clarified that they had not been removed from the team. Instead, they had asked to spend more time with their two-year-old son Tucker. Asked if the rumours were true, Tyson said: “Nope, I pretty much told Jimmy [MrBeast], just because I want to spend time with Tucker, and he’s traveling a lot, I’m just going to come and go as I please.” Have your say in our news democracy. This year's contest is taking place in the UK as last year's winners, Ukraine are unable to host due to the illegal invasion of their country by Russia and the ongoing war between the two nations. Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky has been prevented from speaking at the grand final but reigning champions Kalush Orchestra believes he would have wanted to. Tymofii Muzychuk, a piper who forms part of the seven-piece, told the PA news agency: “Actually we think that President Zelensky would have wanted to thank all the British people for doing this and, as we can see, Britain took this very responsibly, the UK. And so actually I think it would have been nice for him to talk.” Elsewhere, UK entry Mae Muller has received messages of support from the world of politics, as Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said “we’re all cheering you on”. “Good luck to (Mae Muller) a Kentish Town local, at @Eurovision tonight!” Sir Keir tweeted. “We’re all cheering you on.” Labour Mayor of London Sadiq Khan tweeted: “Tonight we’re rooting for our fellow Londoner Mae Muller in the #Eurovision final.” As the tension mounts, here's how the UK is preparing for the night's activities. Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner have become an instant 'mansplaining' meme
The celebrity world loves nothing more than when two famous good-looking people get together and create a new power couple. Whereas the internet loves nothing more when that famous couple becomes an instant meme. This year we've already had Taylor Swift and Matty Healy memes as well as Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner memes. Well, now Kylie's sister, Kendall Jenner has been given the meme treatment thanks to her new squeeze, Puerta Rican rapper Bad Bunny. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The pair were at Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals between the LA Lakers and the Golden State Warriors in Los Angeles on Friday and a moment between caught the internet's imagination. As Bad Bunny leaned over to tell Kendall something the model and reality TV star did her best to listen. Although it's unlikely we'll ever know what the two said to each other it turned into a new spin on the classic mansplaining meme. The meme soon found it's way onto wrestling Twitter with many making reference to Bad Bunny's recent match (yes, he actually wrestles now) against Damien Priest at WWE Backlash. Even more obscure takes were available. Incidentally, Bad Bunny, 29, has proven himself to be pretty adept at the wrestling game having impressed since his debut at WrestleMania 37 in 2021 and even competed in last year's Royal Rumble match. No word on if Kendall will soon be involved in WWE but time will tell. Have your say in our news democracy. Bhad Bhabie calls men 'creepy' for subscribing to her OnlyFans when she was 18
Bhad Bhabie has hit out at "creepy" men who were subscribed to her OnlyFans account when she was 18. The rapper, real name Danielle Bregoli, became a viral hit after appearing on Dr Phil and birthing the famous catchphrase: "Cash me outside, how ’bout that?" During a recent appearance on Emily Ratajkowski's High Low podcast, the rapper candidly spoke about signing up to OnlyFans at a young age and becoming one of the platform's top earners. She said: "It doesn’t go like that for everybody. I’ve had people come up to me and say, 'I’m just going to do it like you do it'. And I’m like, 'Ahhh no'.” "It’s situational," she added. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Bregoli then touched on how it felt knowing adults were subscribed to her account when she was 18. "I was kept covered up for so long, right, with how they were making me dress and s**t," she told EmRata. "And I was young. It’s creepy but at the same time…18 is 18. "That’s what they said it was, so that’s what they said it was." She continued: "Do I think it’s a billion per cent OK? No. But at the same time, it’s like, if they ain’t going to find it here, they’ll find it somewhere." EmRata asked Bregoli how her mum felt about her joining the adult website, to which she responded she "doesn't care". "That lady love money. She don’t care where it comes from," she joked. Bregoli's estimated earnings for 2021 are said to be around £42 million ($51 million). Forbes suggested that the majority comes from OnlyFans, raking in over £823,000 ($1 million) in her first six hours. Have your say in our news democracy. The Good Doctor 'I am a surgeon' meme explained
Viral trends are nothing if not unpredictable, so we shouldn’t be surprised that a six-year-old hospital drama has suddenly been thrust into the limelight. The Good Doctor – which stars Feddie Highmore as an autistic medic with savant syndrome – has been running since 2017, but it’s taken until now for it to really catch the attention of social media. A scene from season two of the ABC series is taking the likes of TikTok and Twitter by storm. It shows our protagonist, Dr Shaun Murphy (Highmore), passionately shouting: “I am a surgeon!” And of course, the beauty of viral memes is their total separation from any context, enabling us to apply them to the scenario of our choice. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter But it’s still interesting to know the source of these snippets. In this case, Dr Murphy’s outburst comes from an episode titled ‘Breakdown’ in which he confronts his boss, the hospital’s chief of surgery, Dr Jackson Han. Earlier in the series, Han had relegated Murphy to lab work. But, after successfully saving the life of a patient, the younger doc wants his job back. After all, he is a surgeon. @hnjiaajuz14 #movie #foryou #riddit #fypシ #pyf Since going viral, the scene has undergone a series of extreme edits, featuring SpongeBob, laser eyes, and catchy remixes. And whilst Dr Han (played by Daniel Dae Kim), is basically the show’s heartless baddie, he’s also become the internet’s favourite heartthrob. Still, the show isn’t without its critics, with many condemning the simplistic portrayal of autism as a kind of adorably awkward superpower. Another clip that’s been doing the rounds, taken from a season one episode titled ‘She’, shows Murphy confounded while treating a trans patient. The implication that his ignorant tactlessness is a result of his autism hasn’t sat well with viewers, and was called out well before ‘The Good Doctor’ became a darling of the meme circuit. Still, most people are just enjoying the random beauty of the show’s sudden virality. Thanks to these mystifying algorithms, anything can blow up on your timeline: good (doctor) or bad.
