Elon Musk reveals historic venue where Mark Zuckerberg fight could happen
After both Elon musk and and Mark Zuckerberg agreed for a cage fight, the Twitter CEO shared information about a potential venue to host the match. On Friday Morning, Musk tweeted "some chance fight happens in Colosseum". Last week it was leaked that Zuckerberg's Meta was planning to release a rival to Twitter, likely to be called Threads. The app was announced in a company meeting where Meta's chief product officer Chris Cox called "our response to Twitter." Cox went on to throw some shade towards Musk by saying that the company's goal for the app was have it "sanely run". Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter After hearing of the news, Musk responded to a tweet about the leaked information saying: "I'm sure Earth can't wait to be exclusively under Zuck's thumb with no other options. At least it will be "sane". Was worried there for a moment." A fan responded to Musk saying "Better be careful @elonmusk I heard he does jiu jitsu now" followed by laughing emojis. "I'm up for a cage match if he is lol," replied Musk. Zuckerberg then posted a screenshot of Musk's tweet to his Instagram story saying "send me location". TMZ Sports reported on Thursday that Italy's Minister of Culture had apparently reached out to both Musk and Zuckerberg to offer the Colosseum as a venue for their fight. TMZ were told that Zuckerberg forwarded the message to UFC chair president Dana White. Apparently, both tech giants are taking the fight seriously and have begun training for the match. UFC fighter Kevin Lee claims that Zuckerberg had reached out to him for training. Have your say in our news democracy. Dylan Mulvaney claims she was shunned by Bud Light following transphobic backlash
Influencer Dylan Mulvaney shared that Bud Light never reached out to her after facing transphobia from her ad with them. In a TikTok uploaded on Thursday, Mulvaney, a transgender woman who has used her platform to document her transition, spoke about her experience after doing an ad for Bud Light. Mulvaney had posted an Instagram video of her drinking Bud Light back in April. The ad led to an onslaught of transphobia and threats directed towards the 26-year-old as well as some conservatives and anti-trans campaigners boycotting Bud Light. Some even went so far as to destroy Bud Light products in stores. The TikTok, which currently has over 1.5 million likes and over 8 million views, started with Mulvaney drinking beer saying "one thing I will not tolerate people saying about me is that I don't like beer," she smiles. "Because I love beer and I always have." She goes on to talk about the brand partnership with Bud Light saying: "I'm bringing it up because what transpired from that video was more bullying and transphobia than I could have ever imagined." Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "I was scared, I was scared of more backlash and I felt personally guilty for what transpired so I patiently waited for things to get better. But surprise, they haven't really," explaining why she was speaking about it now. "And I was waiting for the brand to reach out to me but they never did. And for months now, I've been scared to leave my house. I have been ridiculed in public. I've been followed. And I have felt a loneliness I wouldn't wish on anyone." @dylanmulvaney Trans people like beer too. ?️⚧️? The revelation that Bud Light had not reached out to Mulvaney after she faced bullying and harassment from their customers left many viewers shocked and appalled: "For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse, in my opinion, than not hiring a trans person at all," Mulvaney told viewers. "Because it gives customers permission to be as transphobic and hateful as they want. And the hate doesn't end with me, it has serious and grave consequences for the rest of our community and you know we're customers too, I know a lot of trans and queer people who love beer and I have some lesbian friends who could drink some of those haters under the table." "And all this is to say bottom line is that if you follow me, if I've made you smile, if you care about me, I need you to care about every trans person and I need you to support us and I need you to stand by us." At the end of her video, she added: "It's still Pride month, I'm gonna celebrate being alive and I'm gonna celebrate the trans people in my life and the ones I haven't met yet. And I'm going to celebrate the fact that no matter how many thousands of horrible messages or news anchors misgendering me or companies going silent that I can look in the mirror and see the woman that I am and that I love being." Mulvaney's video comes after Bud Light's parent company Anheuser-Busch's CEO Brendan Whitworth gave an exclusive interview to CBS Mornings on Wednesday. During the interview' he acknowledged it had been a "tough few weeks" for the company. "The conversation has become divisive," he said. "Bud Light has supported LGBTQ [people] since 1998, so that's 25 years, and as we've said from the beginning we'll continue to support the communities and organisations that we have supported for decades." Roseanne Barr slammed for 'sarcastic' comment about the Holocaust
Roseanne Barr is facing major criticism after making a 'sarcastic' comment on a podcast relating to the Holocaust - but no one is seeing the funny side. Despite Barr being Jewish herself, listeners of the This Past Weekend podcast found the remarks in relation to political propaganda distasteful. "The truth is that Biden got 81 million votes by winning 36 counties. And that is just incredible. It really, really is", she began. Barr then continued: “And that is the truth. And nobody died in the Holocaust, either. That’s the truth. It should happen. Six million Jews should die right now ’cause they cause all the problems in the world. But it never happened." Pink being handed random objects has become an instant meme
Singer Pink has become an instant meme after fans get creative about handing her things during concerts. The foundation for the new meme was laid when a fan at a London festival threw a plastic packet containing their mother’s ashes at the American singer-songwriter, leaving her stunned, saying it was a “first” for her. It was followed up by another viral clip of a fan handing Pink a massive 3kg wheel of brie, which the singer appeared thrilled by. Pink gratefully took the cheese and showed it to the crowd before thanking the fan for the gift and giving them an air hug. The clip has sparked a whole host of new memes as fans have creatively Photoshopped random items in the place of the brie wheel. Joe Lycett trolls Suella Braverman after Rwanda deal deemed to be 'unlawful'
Joe Lycett is back at trolling the Conservative party again, this time Suella Braverman, after the Court of Appeal ruled that the government's Rwanda asylum plan is "unlawful". Lord Burnett, the outgoing Lord Chief Justice, said: "The High Court's decision that Rwanda is a safe third country is reversed. Unless and until the deficiencies in its asylum processes are corrected, removal of asylum seekers to Rwanda will be unlawful." A major setback in prime minister Rishi Sunak's 'stop the boats' policy. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter In light of the announcement comedian Joe Lycett tweeted: "ignore the haters babe (by haters I mean the royal court of justice)" Lycett has been known to troll many Conservative MPs, after former prime minister Boris Johnson was found guilty for lying to parliament earlier this month, Lycett tweeted "@Boris Johnson still my king." Similarly, when Liz Truss announced her resignation in October last year, the comedian tweeted: "@trussliz omg just heard there's a leadership election next week????? u shud run bab youd be perfect!!!" Lycett gained a lot of attention last year for his appearance on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg after sarcastically claiming to be "very right-wing". "The haters will say that we've had 12 years of the Tories and that we're sort of at the dregs of what they've got available," the comedian said last year. "I wouldn't say that because I'm incredibly right-wing, but some people might say that." Many fans once again loved Lycett's comedic input to the current situation, with his tweet having thousands of likes. "Tweet of the day," commented one user. Others took inspiration from Lycett's sarcastic remarks and left some of their own: A government source said it was likely to challenge the ruling at Britain's Supreme Court. Jaden Smith says his mum encouraged his 'first steps' into psychedelic drugs
Jaden Smith has opened up about his use of psychedelic drugs, admitting that his mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, "made the first step." Psychedelics (also known as hallucinogens) are known to produce changes in perception, mood and cognitive processes. Drugs such as LSD, DMT, ayahuasca and magic mushrooms are among the well-known psychoactive substances that often give the hallucinogenic experience. During a Psychedelic Science conference in Denver last week, the 24-year-old called the experience "profound and beautiful" and went on to suggest it helped him and his siblings get along better. Speaking about how he was introduced to psychedelics, Jaden said: "I think it was my mom actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family." "It was just her for a really, really long time and then eventually, it just trickled and evolved, and everybody found it in their own ways," he added. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Jaden went on to say: "Siblings can argue so much and fight so much, and lord knows me and my siblings have done so much of that in the past. "But the level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the [psychedelic] experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that’s profound and beautiful." Psychedelics are illegal in the UK but have been around since ancient times and often have mystical and spiritual associations, according to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation. They can also carry risk, like any other drug – especially if a person experiences a "bad trip." This can lead to unpredictable and, in some cases, dangerous or life-threatening behaviour. There have since been various studies into the effects of micro-dosing and mental health to see whether they positively impact the brain's serotonin receptors. However, "as a class A drug, they have the most restrictions in place," Detox Plus UK explains. "This makes it impossible and unethical for the needed research to be conducted on humans as opposed to animals." Have your say in our news democracy. WWE fan sparks debate after asking John Cena to yell catchphrase in a restaurant
WWE star John Cena has caused a debate on TikTok after refusing to say his famous catchphrase for a fan. In the viral footage posted to the platform, the star was captured sitting in a restaurant while catching up with a friend. The TikToker interrupts the pair by asking him to say something for the camera. "Say again?" Cena asked the fan, to which he responded: "Can you [say], 'You can’t see me?'" The WWE legend replied: "How about I enjoy some time with my friends?" His response led the fan to apologise and end the video. The TikTok clip has since racked up almost half a million views and hundreds more polarised comments. "All dude had to say was 'Hi John Cena, I'm a big fan, can I take a picture with you?' from a distance – Cena would have probably said yes," one person wrote. Another added: "People mad at him for having boundaries, but dude didn't do anything either, just saying what's up." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter @alex99rocks my friend met john cena and decided to be a cornball? @Arya A third also suggested a better approach, commenting: "He’s rich and all but I would rather be like 'hey I’m a huge fan, can I buy you guys another round of drinks?' and hope something good happens after." Meanwhile, others joked that the fan should have toyed with his famed catchphrase 'You can't see me'. "Just go up to his friends and say I’m sorry that you're sitting alone," one TikToker commented, while another humoured: "He said you CAN'T see me." Since his 2002 debut, Cena has not only made an impression in the ring but also for his work for the Make-A-Wish foundation, where he's broken records for the amount of wishes granted. Last year, the Guinness Book of World Records recognised his efforts after making 650 wishes come true. He has also made huge strides as an actor appearing in The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, Trainwrecked and Fast 9. Have your say in our news democracy. Clips keep emerging from Pink's British Summer Time concert in London over the weekend, and things just keep getting weirder.
