Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney agree deal to rename Wrexham’s ground
Wrexham’s historic Racecourse Ground will become known as the SToK Racecourse under the terms of a new sponsorship deal brokered by Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. This is the first time the world’s oldest international football stadium – Wales played their maiden home game there against Scotland on March 5, 1877 – will have a sponsor, with the deal becoming effective on July 1. Wrexham’s Welsh-speaking fans will now know the ground as SToK Cae Ras. SToK Cold Brew Coffee, according to the official Wrexham website, is one of the largest and fastest-growing cold brew coffee brands in the United States but does not sell in the UK. Wrexham co-owners McElhenney and Reynolds announced the stadium’s name change in a light-hearted video where they decide to secretly replace the team’s traditional afternoon tea with SToK Cold Brew Coffee to see if they would notice. A joint statement from McElhenney and Reynolds read: “We wanted a stadium sponsor that captured the vitality and energy of Wrexham while also, like Welsh, being a bit of a learning experience to say. SToK Cold Brew Coffee fit the bill perfectly. “We’re incredibly excited and a little overcaffeinated.” Wrexham say attaching a stadium sponsor name to the Cae Ras/Racecourse was backed by the club’s advisory board, which is made up of supporter representatives. Brittney Polka, vice president of Ready-to-Drink Beverages at Danone North America, said: “Some may wonder why a US-based cold brew brand would sponsor a tea-drinking Welsh football team. “The answer: SToK is all about bold moves. “We were captivated by the story of Wrexham — the team, the fans, and the community — and we’re honoured to be welcomed into the Wrexham family. “We’ll be cheering on the Red Dragons and raising our cold brews from afar.” Wrexham executive director Humphrey Ker said: “We are delighted to welcome SToK to the Wrexham family. “Having secured the support of the club advisory board and understanding that the majority of fans were happy for the stadium to be sponsored, we were delighted to partner with one of the fastest growing cold brew coffee brands in the US, as their ambitions and upward trajectory matches our own.” Last month Wrexham returned to the English Football League after a 15-year absence, having won the Vanarama National League title with a record total of 111 points. SToK will now sponsor Wrexham’s summer American tour, which will include friendlies against Chelsea and Manchester United. George Floyd & The Enduring Disregard For Black Humanity
George Floyd & The Enduring Disregard For Black Humanity
Three weeks before the three-year anniversary of George Floyd’s brutal murder, Jordan Neely was executed in the same way; a chokehold delivered by a white man who viewed him as a threat instead of a human being. For three weeks, we’ve had to watch our timelines debate whether Jordan Neely was worthy of compassion, of care, and of his life. And for three years, we’ve seen George Floyd go from a man to a martyr for racial reckoning. But Floyd didn’t sacrifice his life for the greater good. He wasn’t an activist or a symbol upon which to project supposed progress. He was a person. A son. A brother. A father.

Brian Cox has sweary reaction to BBC interviewer's acting suggestion
Brian Cox appeared to channel his Succession character, Logan Roy after he shouted "b*******" during an interview on the BBC. The 76-year-old played the ruthless patriarch and founder of media company Waystar Royco, known for his sharp tongue and use of swear words - especially to his four children (Connor, Kendall, Siobhan (Shiv), and Roman) who strived to win his affections to became the successor of his media empire. (Spoilers for season four ahead...) Viewers of the most recent season were shocked with the plot twist that saw Logan dramatically killed off in the third episode, leaving his four children to fight it to see who will come out on top. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter A particular slogan that became synonymous with Logan was "F*** off!" (there's even an entire compilation of the them throughout the seasons). Cox noted to Rotten Tomatoes how he gets request from fans "on a regular basis" to say it. "And I go yeah, that's the easiest thing in the world, f*** off" Today, Cox's recent interview with Amol Rajan aired on BBC Radio 4's Today programme in which Rajan warned viewers about "a bit of bad language coming up." At one point, Rajan asked Cox his opinion about whether people need certain experience to play certain roles. He said: "What about this idea that only actors who have had certain experiences should play certain roles? You mention –" “Bollocks! Absolute bollocks!" Cox interjected. "It’s the imagination,” he continued. "It’s again what I talked about earlier on, about interfering with the imagination.” Safe to say, listeners were thoroughly entertained at Cox's reaction. Meanwhile, Today programme co-host Nick Robinson later joked about the uncanny likeness between Cox and his Succession character in the clip: "Just to remind you, that was the actor rather than Logan Roy, although at times you couldn’t exactly tell the difference, could you?" The finale episode of the final series of Succession called "Wide Open Eyes" will air on Sunday, May 28 on HBO. Have your say in our news democracy.
