Will Poulter has turned fans’ heads after sporting a new look at this year’s Paris Fashion Week. The Bear star, 30, was seen at the Dior Homme Menswear Spring/Summer 2023 show in June with a moustache and a light smattering of facial hair framing his chin and jaw. Although the actor debuting the look more than two weeks ago, fans have begun to sit up and take notice of his dapper appearance after sharing photographs on social media. One tweet that has been viewed more than 8.7m times featuring a trio of photos of Poulter smiling at the camera was shared by a user who goes by the handle @fatfabfeminist. She wrote: “HELLO?? WILL POULTER??? David and Victoria Beckham have celebrated their daughter Harper’s 12th birthday a couple of days earlier with a party at the Prada Caffè in Harrods. The couple’s only daughter will turn a year older on Monday 10 July. She wore a silk lilac slip dress with lace trim from Victoria’s label, with sporty trainers and a sparkly £950 Prada Re-Edition handbag. The proud designer shared snaps from the party on her Instagram account, including a snap of her and Harper with their arms around one another, as well as the birthday girl with her famous footballer father and brothers Romeo and Cruz. Victoria wrote in the caption: “Harper Seven is 12!! (almost) Prada party for Harper Seven CHIC!” Harper was also pictured beaming with a large personalised cake in front of her, with 12 tall white candles waiting to be blown out. It’s one of the golden rules of summer: everyone feels better with a tan. Whether your tan is from soaking up the rays or from a bottle, you’ll likely want it to linger as long as possible. Luckily, there are plenty of things you can do – before and after getting a tan – to prolong your glow. Of course, if your tan is from the sun, it’s important to be careful with UV rays. “Sunscreen is your best friend when it comes to safeguarding your skin from harmful UV rays. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 40 or higher and apply it generously to all exposed areas of your body. Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating,” advises skincare formulator and founder of Skin Masterclass, Cigdem Kemal Yilmaz. “Seek shade during peak hours, typically between 12pm and 3pm, and wear protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses.” Real or fake, how can you make your summer tan last longer? Prep your skin beforehand The golden rule of tanning? “Exfoliate before you tan,” says Rachael Robertson, skincare specialist and founder of Bedew Skin. “This will remove the dead skin cells on the outermost layer of the skin giving you a fresh base to work with. Remember that the skin sheds naturally so if you do this before you tan, those outermost cells will stick around longer and so will your tan.” It’s then important to cleanse and moisturise your skin. Robertson says: “Wash thoroughly with your favourite body wash (look for products that are moisturising as this will help hold your tan) when you jump out [the shower] apply moisturiser to slightly damp skin, paying close attention to the backs of the arms, elbows, feet, knees and hands. “If you usually use a body oil, skip it if you are preparing to tan as this can break it down quicker if it’s fake, and may cause burning if it’s real.” Kimberley Medd, head of clinic at Face the Future, recommends moisturising at least 24 hours before applying fake tan. “Any closer, and you can affect the efficacy of the tan as the moisturiser will act as a skin barrier, meaning your tanning product may find it harder to penetrate the skin,” she says. Yilmaz agrees with the idea of keeping your skin as hydrated as possible post-tan. “Regularly moisturising your body and face helps maintain optimal skin health and prevents dryness, flakiness, and premature ageing,” she says. “I suggest going for moisturisers that contain ingredients like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and glycerin, which help retain moisture and provide a plump, radiant appearance.” If you have been in the sun, hydration is even more crucial, Yilmaz says: “After a day of sun exposure, treat your skin with a hydrating after-sun lotion with aloe vera and allantoin to sooth the skin and replenish lost moisture.” And if you want to cheat the system a bit, Robertson adds: “A great tip is to top your tan up with a gradual tanning moisturiser each day so you get the benefits of the moisturising ingredients and a sneaky top-up.” Perricone MD High Potency Hyaluronic Intensive Body Therapy, £51 Arran Apothecary Aloe Vera Body Lotion, £14.50 Bondi Sands Skin Illuminator Gradual Tanning Lotion, £13.99 Don’t strip away your tan “To extend the lifespan of your summer tan, keep your skin moisturised using a lightweight, non-greasy lotion,” says Yilmaz. “Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorinated water as it can fade your tan faster.” If you’ve fake tanned, Medd says: “You should wait three to four days after tan application before you exfoliate to avoid the tan becoming patchy or fading. Exfoliating is a key part of keeping an even, buildable tan as you’re able to remove the dead skin cells for reapplication.” Consider your diet Did you know a healthy diet and drinking plenty of water could help prolong your summer glow? “A balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals promotes skin health and radiance,” Yilmaz notes. “I suggest incorporating fruits and vegetables like berries, tomatoes, spinach and kale into your meals, as they contain essential nutrients that protect against sun damage and nourish your skin from within. She continues: “Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Proper hydration not only helps maintain the elasticity of your skin but also aids in detoxification, ensuring a healthy and vibrant complexion. Aim for at least eight glasses of water per day, and increase your intake when spending time in the sun.”

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer, 46, stepped out at the Viktor & Rolf Fall/Winter 2023 runway show in Paris on Wednesday 5 July wearing a white-and-gold-accented trench coat, with the word “NO” emblazoned on the front. The white, double-breasted coat featured the three-dimensional letters protruding from each side of the jacket, with gold embellishments along the trim. The statement coat also tied in the front, with Shakira pairing the bold look with large brown-tinted sunglasses and gold heels. There are still three weeks to go before anyone gets to actually see Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, but it’s already completely monopolised pop culture, from music to fashion to furniture. Google “Barbiecore” and you’ll find the film’s pink-plastic aesthetic infiltrating everything you can imagine, with TikTok clips offering detailed outfit suggestions to viral Twitter threads praising individual looks from the film’s characters. But nothing is getting quite as much attention as Barbie herself. Or, more specifically, the red carpet wardrobe of the actor playing her. Across social media, Margot Robbie has been the subject of endless posts, threads and reels as a result of her chosen ensembles. “Margot Robbie had the chance to do the greatest fashion press tour ever and lord did she take it,” reads one tweet. “Margot Robbie just absolutely slaying all her Barbie press tour looks,” adds another. Meanwhile, British Vogue recently described her as an “unstoppable fashion force”. In typical Hollywood, none of this would be particularly remarkable. But it’s not just happening on the red carpet. Remember the iconic tweed blazer originally worn by Claudia Schiffer on the spring/summer Chanel 1996 runway? Robbie was spotted wearing it with jeans and a white crop top when she landed at Sydney airport last month. Her luggage was also pink, naturally. Another Chanel moment came via a sunshine-yellow tweed suit that looked like it had been plucked straight out of Cher Horowitz’s wardrobe. Speaking of co-ords, we’ve seen plenty. There was the pink gingham Prada set Robbie wore to CinemaCon 2023, and the bespoke Bottega Veneta pleated skirt and crop top that the label made especially for the press tour (the exact shade of pink matches that of Barbie’s car). Elsewhere, we’ve seen Robbie wearing the iconic pink polo neck and metallic skirt by Versace from its autumn/winter 1994 collection – fashion fans will remember photos of Kate Moss wearing this on the runway. She paired the look with white platform sandals and lilac socks: a perfect way to accessorise like a doll. Another standout vintage Versace look from the same collection came at a Barbie event in Sydney, where the star wore a pink sequin minidress complete with a corseted bodice. But the undisputed highlight has been the moments in which Robbie directly references Barbie herself, with looks taken from 1950s dolls. At a press conference in Seoul, Robbie dressed in a pink sparkling skirt suit covered in crystal studs, complete with a heart-shaped bag and a pillbox hat. Then there was the “day to night” doll look from 1985 that Robbie recreated – courtesy of Versace – in a pink pencil skirt suit with white lapels and matching high heels. The actor referenced another look worn by the same doll later that night, in a tulle Versace dress complete with a sparkling bodysuit. Over in Sydney, we saw the actor don a striped bodycon minidress by Hervé Léger that paid homage to a swimsuit worn by a Barbie doll from 1959. And at a photocall in LA, Robbie wore a pink polka dot cutout dress from Valentino that referenced a similar frock worn by another original Barbie doll. And in a double whammy of references, it was also a remake of a similar gown worn by Karen Mulder on the brand’s spring 1993 runway. All of this has been the work of celebrity styling mastermind Andrew Mukamal, who has worked with everyone from Zoe Kravitz and Billie Eilish to Kieran Culkin and Irina Shayk. “We’re always thinking about risks to take,” Mukami once told Vogue of his long-standing partnership with Kravitz. “We want to make an impact and create iconic moments that people will remember and be drawn to.” It seems he’s taken this exact modus operandi and applied it to Robbie, too. And thank goodness, because Barbie is nothing if not defined by what she wears. In 2023, that might sound reductive. But given Gerwig’s esteemed reputation and what we know about the film so far, we have every reason to believe that fashion, much like everything else, will prove to be an important and meaningful platform in the script. Robbie’s archival wardrobe also marks the latest sign that red carpet fashion is leaning increasingly backwards. The only outfits that matter are those that we’ve seen before. At least, that’s how it seems when you consider the fanfare surrounding celebrities any time they get their hands on a cult vintage look. This taps into the sartorial zeitgeist of shunning fast fashion in favour of sustainable alternatives. But it also suggests a slightly less exciting prospect that fashion is running out of new ideas. Even at the Met Gala, fashion’s greatest global stage, some of the most talked-about looks were vintage. Is this the death knell for originality? And what of Robbie’s own style progression? Once the Barbie press tour is over, will she go back to grinning weakly in Chanel pastels? Nodding to fashion history is a worthwhile cause. But it’s something the Queen of fashion herself, Vogue’s Anna Wintour, famously despises: “Fashion’s not about looking back. It’s always about looking forward,” she once said. Try as she might, Robbie can’t dress like a doll for the rest of her life. So perhaps this marks the start of a new costume-orientated era for the actor, one where fashion will be taken more seriously than ever before. She chose a white A-line dress from Alexander McQueen – the brand responsible for her wedding dress – with an unusual pattern made up of butterflies, lipstick tubes, skulls and other eclectic items. Dior’s haute couture runway show in Paris saw the French fashion house tap into the most exclusive trend of the moment: quiet luxury. Brought to the fore by HBO television show Succession – which put the spotlight on the ultra-wealthy – quiet luxury is all about sleek, understated clothes that ooze elegance and wealth. Dior’s latest show took place at the Musée Rodin in Paris, a grand 18th-century mansion that displays Auguste Rodin’s work, most notably the famous sculpture The Thinker. In keeping with creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s continued dedication to feminism, the collection was themed around female narratives and representation in ancient mythology. The show opened with a model wearing a classic white gown with caped sleeves trailing to the ground. This set the aesthetic tone – models wore lots of long, flowing gowns in muted colours – mainly whites, earthy tones, navy or grey hues. There was lots of layering, sheer panels and flowing skirts – but everything was so precisely tailored that silhouettes were kept crisp and sharp. After all, this was a couture collection – seen as the pinnacle of craftsmanship, garments are one-of-a-kind and require a lot more skill, time and money to produce. While clothes were mainly left plain – as is the trend within quiet luxury – there was the odd subtle accent. Think intricate knotwork, heavy beading and floral appliques, adding to the overall feeling of wealth and glamour. The styling was kept simple – models wore their hair in low ponytails with a centre parting – and Dior made the case for a new trend: wearing one statement drop earring, instead of a pair. The show closed with a model wearing a heavily embellished caped gown – like a more formal, red carpet-ready version of the opening look. Celebrity guests on the front row also wore silhouettes and simple designs that felt like quiet luxury. Australian actor Elizabeth Debicki – who plays Diana, Princess of Wales in The Crown – kept things chic and French-inspired with her outfit, wearing a black beret with netting over the top, a simple white tank top and a black leather skirt. House ambassador Natalie Portman wore a white strapless gown with watercolour-style pastel accents.
